First question I have is Will business income loss on Schedule C mean we qualify for a smaller Lending Tree mortgage? Many thanks for any comment. My 2nd question... I will have been with them for 2 years this December. I started off paying for a gold card with a $300 CL. This was eventually upgraded to platinum..CL increases...APR lowered etc. I had called 3-4 months ago to see about getting the annual fee waived and she said to call back in Dec.

Today I got a letter giving me a $1,000 CL increase (up to $3,250), no more annual fee and a 9.9% APR (down from 15.99%). Even though it's a sub-prime card, I can't complain with a 610 FICO..

With all the posting going on a while back about the Providian sell-offs, I was worried that I would even have an account..

IMO Providian ain't all that bad for people with BAD credit such as myself...

The answer is Yes, but... you might want to make sure and wait for someone else here to confirm it as I am not very confident. Better yet, why don't you email the Lending Tree guys because they can assist you better...

I've been very happy with em too. Other than my interest rate on the non-platinum card, they have been good to me...

BradleyT, did you purchase their "specials" to increase your CL or were the increases automatically given to you? Do you have any charge offs or collections?.

I'm asking because I've been with Providian for 2 years in Nov and my credit line was only increased a few times within the first year. I never ordered their products so I didn't know if that's what they were holding against me. I was going to cancel the card until my interest rate was decreased from 29.99% to 16.99% and I did PFB a couple of weeks ago for a CL increase/upgrade to platinum. I'm still waiting for my results...

They screwed around with me. I HAD a 3950 CL and they wrote me a letter basically saying I wasn't credit worthy enough for that amount so they dropped me to $571.00 (Yeah that's right $571) So I closed the account. Turned right around the same day and applied for a FLEET Platnium and was approved for $10000 and did a BT so I owed providian NOTHING. This was 3 months ago. Oh, and I was just approved for AMEX Blue too. SCREW 'EM and thier CL..

Can you tell I still have a bitter taste in my mouth from them? LOL.

Leencaci, what were your scores for Fleet and Amex blue? What reports were pulled? Any derogs? Just curious as I'd like to know what I can apply for when my scores get better...

I feel you Leencaci! :).

I wasn't going to reply, because I didn't have anything nice to say. But I thought about it, before Providian screwed me, I had low credit lines totaling less than 5k, after they screwed me, I have over 25k worth of credit..

Thanks Providian!..

Fleet and AMEX both pulled Experian on me. No Derogs. When I applied for Fleet they had sent me a pre-qualified and my score on EX was 731. AMEX Blue was just approved on 11/22/02 and my EX score was 734. The AMEX Blue was my goal to get. I was shocked when the online app came back APPROVED.

My Providian acct. was recently closed for no apparent reason ( never late, overlimit, no derogs, prime scores, established prime cards, etc ). I had about $2700 a mo. in automatic pmts. charged to this card to keep it active ( it was my oldest active tradeline ). My interest rate was 16.99 so I kept it pd.

The card was closed with an interest rate of 16.99% by Providian. I was notified after the fact of course and my acct. was sent to Card Service Center for servicing. CSC thought they would be charging me 29.99%!!!! It is pd. off and I am done with them but it ticks me off to think they were going to charge me 29.99% after this acct. was closed at 16.99.

Sent to me. This is obviously illegal as hell. PVN is on my S*&T list..

I am happy Providian is treating somebody well and wish you continued luck with them. You might think about sleeping with one eye open...

I am surprised that they didnt't sell me offI was recently 30 days late. Am now current. Have had card since 8/98, and my limit is $6k. However, I do want to pay them off and close them outthings seem to be very unstable with them nowI don't want an increase in my interest rate or to have to deal with another company..

I've been reading about everyone's experiences with PVN and cannot make any sense out of them. I don't see much of a pattern or consistency in whatever they are doing..

Hope all works out for you...
