Question I have... Why does it say this when I make sellers account with a Debit Discover Card? Looking forward for any answer. Another question... DGF and I recently opened the Schwab 2% Visa Signature card..

I have a National City card. That card posts "High Balance" literally as the highest balance on that card at any day of the month..

I also have an Orchard card. HSBC posts "High Balance" as the highest posted balance, iow, the highest balance that has ever reported on a statement. (At least it appears to, it's possible that it's a coincidence that my highest balance existed at a statement cut).

Can anybody offer any guidance for how FIA reports this?.

My highest limit is $1k on National City. I think I'd benefit from having a card reporting a CL of $3000, $4000. Do we need to let the statement cut to have this posted or is merely accruing the charges and paying (with Discover card) off before statement-cut good enough?.

Lastly, does anybody know the statement cut? I'll search now and if I find it i'll update this question..

Thanks in advance guys..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I got an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can answer it..

My cutoff date for the Bull is around the 25-27th each month. But they will often report the balance I have at the end of the month. That is one card I allow to report each month.....

Thanks guys. Since the DGF got this account for our shared spending I'm a lil leery about just experimenting like I would if it were my own..

We're socialists with our household finances and she's done us both a favor by opening up this card, but I'd still feel bad if I let a statement cut with a balance (affecting her score for the month until it posts zero again) if it turned out we didn't have to...

My FIA card never reports the "Balance" at any time other than when the statement cuts. The date varies but is "around" the 25th of each month. The "High Balance" seems to be the maximum of daily balances..

One caveat to the above if you request a CLI or dispute the account with a CRA, FIA will update the account mid-cycle when they respond. If you are carrying a balance on that date, it will be reported to the CRA's and remain so until you PIF at the end of the billing cycle. (Ask me how I know?.

)..

Maybe it depends on the card. But FIA almost always reports the balance sitting on my account at the end of the month, not the statement cutoff balance.....

Probably can vary. That would make trying to ensure a $0 balance reporting a little more tricky. With mine, the closing date is shown online each month and I generally PIF on that date. Never had a non-$0 balance report, as a result (knocks on wood). Considering that I cycle my mortgage along with pretty much all of my Discover card payments and other obligations through their BillPay service, a misstep could land me an unwelcome ~$10K balance reporting some month...
