Got a question... Who gives better interest rates: Visa, Discover Card, Discover, AMEX or the Mafia/Loan shark? Looking forward for any response. Another question on my mind: Thanks to the kind people here at credit boards I'm on my way to better credit. Since I joined about a month ago ive gained 20 points on myfico scores. Equifax now at 604 and transunion now at 546. Ive added some new credit like hsbc, kay, and jared.

Still working on the other two..

Now I'm trying to come up with plan of attack for 2 baddies that are really hurting me. First is applied bank which reports charge off with a balance of 1100. Second is capital one which reports charge with a balance of 1600. This account was sold to a collections agency and they got a judgment. Because they are both reporting a balance they are hurting my utilization greatly. I need some direction, especially with Cap One..

Thanks...

Good question... I dunno what is the right answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an useful answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably know..

Good luck with applied, I just ended up paying (with Discover card) them. They had no plans on selling the debt and it would have been on my reports till 2013. I did get them to take payment and remove all derogs with the account..

There use to be a good contact at applied, but he is gone now..

Are you sure cap one sold the debt? If they had they would not be reporting a balance...

I agree with Lynn, If the account was indeed sold then they should be reporting a 0 balance,.

Have you looked into the judgement yet?.

9 times out of 10 they will win a judgement by default even though you were not properly served...

You need to deal with the judgment, that can stay on your report forever depending..

If applied bank has accepted PFD in the past, then that is a good opportunity..

If Cap1 is reporting wrong, report them to the OCC.

I have an update on the Cap1 judgment. They did not sell the account. The CA is a lawfirm representing Cap1. They have held a judgment on this account since June of 09. Neither the CA or this judgment is on my CR. Is there any chance this judgment will eventually show on my CR? Should I offer the CA a settlement? Could I try and get a PFD from the CA?..
