My question is Where can I buy e-Gold currency with my Discover Card ? Thanks for any response. Second question.. I have read many threads about dispute an a tradeline that is nearing the 7 year mark. Some people have said it worked 6 months prior to the 7 year mark and some people said they had it removed up to 1 years early..

I wanted to know you guys stories on disputing old tradelines. Here's what I'm interested in..

1) How old was the tradeline when you got it successful removed as obsolete? How many months before the 7 year mark?.

2) Was the tradeline a paid charge off, unpaid charge off, CA account, ETC?.

3) Did you dispute it by MAIL or ONLINE?.

Thanks in advance...

I have disputed a couple of obsoletes online with TU on my DW reports. They were both removed but they were due to come off in like less than three months. Yesterday, I sumbitted three obsoletes on my TU that were due off in Dec, Jan, and Mar. I will let you know what happens when I get them back...

Considering trying this with a PAID collection entry from HSBC.

Its due to fall off 10/10, but I cant see it hurting to dispute as obsolete.

It cant be re-aged and if it's stuck till 10/10 all I wasted was postage.

Anyone see a downside to disputing it as Obsolete?.

I have had a few:.

Student Loans (in TX there is a "guaranteed" creditor or something that buys your SLs if you default). They get you back and track and then you end up with another lender. Anyways, for me this ordeal was supposed to fall off 03/10. Has been deleted from all 3!.

Paid/closed account (gas card) with a bunch of lates from '03 and '04- was supposed to fall off 10/10. Gone from EX..

Paid/closed account (store CC) with a bunch of lates from '07 GONE from EX. I got lucky!!!!..

All three were written requests.

Only ONE time have I ever disputed something on line and that was to catch EX doing stall tactics for my lawyers sake.

Otherwise I never dispute things on-line...

TexasinATL and cobalt45xy,.

Did you use regular mail/CMRR or online disputes?.

Conventional wisdom says to always use usps/CMRR but I have had some surprisingly good results with online disputes so I thought I should ask..

Thanks...

From what I've seen, the main reason for not using online disputes.

Is it allows them to put your dispute in a specific category, allowing.

Them to slam dunk a NO when you submit multiple issues.

In this case, if you're just disputing it based on obsolescence,.

I dont see that being the same problem..

Edit:.

Actually, there might be good reason to not dispute online..

I've done the obsoletes with TransUnion online and I had success. I also had success removing addresses from TU and EQ online. All my other disputing will be done in writing. I haven't tried anything online or in writing with EX...

I'm curious as to when you disputed online did you just state that the account was too old to be on file?..

For TU, I did everything online. That was my very first round of disputes and I got a TON of stuff off.

I did all of my address-disputing through the mail, but EX wrote me a letter asking for me DL and utility bill, so I called. Got a few addresses off, that weren't linked to anything. And name variations..

For EX and EQ, I disputed a few TLs at a time through mail. Didn't do CMRR, just regular old postage.

Still have some work to do.....

I'm still waiting for a response from TU for the 3 I requested to be taken off a few days ago. EQ finally updated my name (it was misspelled) and removed an address that had a baddie attached to it.

The accounts I'm disputing were all from 2002-2003...

So I just got results back from TU on my disputes. They removed the old address I requested.

The following lines were disputed as obsolete and removed:.

Citibank DFS for $3,104 (Dell Computer purchased in 02) due to fall off Feb of 2010.

HSBC Best Buy for $1,208 due to fall off in 12/2009.

The did NOT remove this one:.

Amex for $1,453 due to fall off in Jun 2010. It updated with new information. It previously wasn't showing my credit limit and now it is. Ugh... I should have waited. Oh well, I'll give it another go in March.

In other news, I was approved for an unsecured Discover card yesterday from Orchard bank. Not sure of the limit because it didn't tell me. I'll find out when it shows up. I'm already on the way up though!.

I would say TU will delete within 3 months for sure but I wouldn't necessarily try at 6 months or more. I had heard that some people had been able to get them off as early as 9 months. I'll wait until March for my Amex and then June for my State Farm Bank Repo. House in late 2010 here I come!..

Update on my online disputes:.

I disputed 3 accounts on TU, 1 that was supposed to fall off next month and two that weren't due to fall off until 03/10 and 04/10 and all 3 were deleted whoo hoo!.

I dispute 1 with Equifax and they verified, supposed to fall off 3/10 and still waiting on Experian results...

Disputed on EQ online.

Cap1 chargeoff set to fall in June-DELETED.

HSBC chargeoff set to fall 2014-DELETED.

WFNNB Chargeoff set to fall in August-DELETED.

All disputed as obsolete. I have about 4 more that I disputed that are still being "investigated".

Disputed all same ones on TU waiting on results..

On the online dispute options for EQ, I have not seen the option to dispute as obsolete (at least nothing in those words exactly). I wonder if the option "I am no longe liable for this account" option is what I would check and if it means the same thing as obsolete ?

I had the same question, actually. TU seems to be the only one with a code that matches obsolete..

The only reason I would be willing to do it online is that I want to be sure it is disputed under the right e-oscar code....

Oh well - just sent the letters off anyway. Didn't want to risk the online temptation, although instant gratification is very nice. Have to be patient with the process...

So far I only attempted to do this with TU. A paid CO charge and an unpaid CA account that were both due to fall off August were deleted. (I had tried last year for both of those and they were verified. )I have two more on my TU that will fall off in Sept, but I didn't want to risk that since it was past the 6 month mark. And then I have two more that will fall off in March and June of 2011.

I haven't done any obsoletes with Ex (I think from what I've read, the three month mark is your best bet). And I'm in CSC country, I wonder if the 6 month rule would apply to me as well. Anyone know?.

Btw, TU was really quick. I did them online in the morning. When I did my CCT pull in the evening, they were Already Gone. The next morning I got an email thay my results were complete and they had been deleted...

I think with EQ I checked the I am no longer liable box, then in the comments box typed OBSOLETE-PLEASE DELETE.

My Tu results were similar, but they deleted everything within 6 mos of falling, so at the end of the month I am going to dispute the other 3 and hope they go! YIPPEE.

Oh and HSBC put their line back on my EQ, it was either just supressed or they reported it again...idk..

1) online disputes means you've done 99% of the work for the CRAs (not to mention entered info that may be transmitted to the other THREE CRAs).

2) disputing as obsolete is not as good as disputing for a substantive reason due to the fact obsolete tradelines might still appear on a FF consumer credit report...

This kinda stinks I am able to do online disputes on equifax and transunion on a tradeline I have set to fall off in 6 months but not experian..

When I do the online dispute it dispositions that I have already disputed this tradeline basically and that I have to mail in additional info..

Since this tradeline is so old should I just call in seeing that I am only disputing the one tradeline on my report?.

Can't hurt to try I guess seeing that this is the only thing I have falling in the range of 6 months due to fall off..

I found it to be totally random..

It's almost like if a dispute letter fell into someones' hands that wanted to go to lunch early, they just took it off my report and went to lunch. The last of mine all disappeared when I sent letters registered mail/signature and asked for a copy of the original contract and other documentation. They do not want to jack with you, and they do not want to research anything even moderately old. Make it an annoyance for them!.

I hate online disputes, they just push the NO button. If you have disputed online and the debt is confirmed: Wait a while, then go the "this was supposed to have been removed" route. Sleazy but effective..

My most persistent one was for something I didn't even owe.

Look at them individually, not as a group, pretend you have an icepick, and chip away...
