Got a quick question: What song is on this Discover Card commercial? Many thanks for any answer. Another question I got... Been fighting with our local water company (outdoor water, indoor is different bill) they bill for the outdoor water once a year, you are charged a certain amount no matter how much water you use (which can suck esp like last year when they said water was low and we could only water one day a week). |

Just the area where we live, we are not connected to the city water. Needless to say you do not drink the outdoor water unless you want to be really really sick...

If your house has a mortgage/deed of trust, that party is the first lien holder and has priority for 'seizing' your house. Your state laws will determine this, but I can't imagine that else could seize your house before they do..
If there is no other lien holder, then it could be possible for someone to seize your home over a $300 lien but they would almost certainly have to provide you with a notice and a period of time specified by law to remedy the lien before seizure... |

We do have a mortgage, so looks like if they try to do this they will have to wait 24 years for the house to be paid off..
Hopefully when I talk to them it will be taken of... |

This is a govt lien probably so it will override the 1st lien...

Okay so they can take my house for a bill I already paid but they want $300 more? or is it just more like you cant sell your home tell this lein is paid?.

It depends on what their local code says they can do. as far as enforcement I'm sure they can after a certain amount of time..

My concern is what they said to your daughter. I'd look into whether they would be legally allowed to disclose that, or be abusive to a minor with those kinds of threats/messages that should have been relayed to the proper party...

How can they put a lein on your home if you paid them in full and have the canceled check to prove it?....

They are saying I didnt pay in full by the due date I paid two days late, so they can put a lein on it, they are saying since I didnt pay by the due date they can charge $300 dollar lein charge (not sure where they get this charge).
Hate to be evited due to a $300 dollar lein, it it gets hairy I can always pay the $300 and then fight it and if anything get a credit of $300 to my bill, if I pay it by the date they want no lein.. This post has been edited by. Mdw2006. : 22 January 2010 - 07:43 PM.. |

At my previous house I had two water meters. One was for the sprinkler system (I had to water 2 acres) and the other was for the house water. Two different bills, as the sprinkler water did not get billed sewer...

I have never seen that. (unless it is like a condo or apartment and they pay the "OUTSIDE" water...like sprinklers). My hose outlets were not connected to the outside sprinklers water source at the condo.. |
