My first question is What should a letter for a gift down payment for Lending Tree mortgage read? Thanks for any comment. Second question of mine... Just got it in the mail with it's usual fees, but trying to keep more credit (to balance out Cap1 ratio-wise). So far I have:. |

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I find an decent answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably could help you..

I agree with the previous poster, you already have a Cap. 1 card and you should keep the balance on that one low (read: more cl inc) and definitely keep the BofA card (I wish I had one)...

I agree with this somewhat, but I would call them to cancel it, THEN send a letter to them with the name of the representative, the time I called, and the letter stating that I didn't activate the card, and I am returning it..
SEND IT CRRR!!!!! You will have proof!!!!. That way if it turns up on your credit report as a chargeoff/ negative, you will have proof to nail them.. Good luck.............. |

Yeh, this is good advice. From what I've heard of dealing with this company, you can't take anything for granted. I'd do what this message suggests (if you in fact decide not to activate the card). Good luck...

At this point I will have to disagree with everybody about closing it. It is already going to show on your credit reports. If you have an acct opened and closed in 1 months time, that could cost you more points score wise than a new acct. Since this already going to appear, I would keep it til the 1 year mark, then close it...

I agree with you. My post was what to do IF she decides to cancel it..
I was directly addressing her question ;-). I wanted her to have proof it was closed in the event something funny popped up on her report. (like it was charged off, etc......).. |
|
I thought the question was "Should I keep First Premier?" But if she closes it, I agree...
|
|
Yes..
I was looking more at the last part of her statement about sending it back.. And if I do send it back, send it CRRR so they can't say they didn't get it?(I know, I'm paranoid).. This was the part I was mostly answering. ;-).. |

Thanks everyone! I think it came activated, because the sticker on it is for a PIN, nothing else. The others have a sticker with instructions on how to activate. That's why I feel it's such a big decision. With my Orchard, I haven't activated it because I want to pay the annual fee as soon as I do. The card this thing came on tells me the $178 has already been charged. Because of this I already had what LKH just mentioned on my mind: that it may already be on my reports with a balance..
I think I'll keep it, and pay it off at the end of the month.. Might as well activate Orchard now. Dang.. Any thoughts from past or present FP cardholders? I want this to be at least one of my last not-so-great-decisions (I applied for so many at one time, and this ended up being one of them).. Trina.. |

Don't move. If you do have to move, CALL THEM with your new address, send the new address CRRR, put it on the back of 3 months worth of bills prior to moving, if possible, and 3 months worth of bills that you'll have forwarded to you, and then still pray to the credit gods that they actually CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS IN THEIR SYSTEM!.
I moved twice (military family) during the time I had that card, and danged if it didn't take an act of God to get my address changed with those people.. The last time, was when the card came thisclose to going to collections, because it was paid off when I moved and with all the other stuff going on at the time, I never even noticed when I stopped getting bills. But then the annual fee hit and it all just snowballed from there. My lightbulb moment came when their in-house collectors called. THEY managed to find me, lol. I brought it current right then and there, and paid it off the next month when I DID finally get a bill. Overpaid, even.. Speaking of which, I have to call them in the morning, I should have gotten a check from them like 2 months ago for that overpayment....... hmmm...... |

I've had a First Premier card for a year or so. CL is $200 secured by $200 (what an offer!)..
Mine is the "Future" card which, if I understand, has slightly different terms from the regular FP account.. I do not pay any monthly "account" or "membership" fees. I do have an annual fee, though.. I haven't had any real problems with them other than their straight out refusal to increase the credit line or unsecure the card.. I've never rec'd any sort of telemarketing calls from them. On occasion, I'll get an insert with my statement selling some junk but I just toss it.. Their website, IMO, doesn't offer a whole lot. I don't believe they offer online billpay through their site...but my bank does so it doesn't really matter.. Honestly, I haven't had any problems with them. It's been a pretty noneventful account relationship... |

Hi Trina,.
I can tell you I've had great luck with this card. I've had the card for a little over a year. I first got it because of divorce and my credit was so bad, it was the only card I could get. After having it for 6 months (never being late and always over paying), I was going to cancel because my credit was so much better. At that point I had about 8 other cards with about 2k limits and was NOT going to pay the 18.9% that FP was charging. No reason to keep it! When I called them to cancel, they asked why. I think they are a very good company to work with and they have always been very fair and good to me. Hope this helps in your decision!. Mysti_summer.. |
