First question I have is What is the type of sale involving payment by Visa, Discover Card, etc. called? Thanks in advance for any response. Another question... Anyone ever done this? By mail, phone, email, how?.

Do you have an example of the letter you sent out?.

Thanks!..

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to that question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I got an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could help you..

In Sept of 2009 My wife settled one of 2 city accounts. The one we settled was just over 90 days late. The one we couldn't settle was 104 days late and city had already charged it off and sold it to BoA..

Balances was ~$4k and they settled for somewhere between 40 and 60%. We settled several cards around that time and I don't remember exactly where Citi fell. Negotiation was all over the phone and very amicable. We came to an agreement, they fedexed a settlement letter and we paid them..

How does one get proof of citi still owning or if they have sold a charged off account?.

$10k+ was CO in April 2008..

Wont discuss anything with us. Refer us to the CA. CA says they are working for citi..

Current paperwork drill is ongoing..

Would appreciate info regarding where you had good luck settling with citi accounts...

CO was in 2008I stopped paying (with Discover card) mid 2007. It was sold to a CA that has not even contacted or touched my reports. My reports list Citi CO with a balance..

Good sign the debt is merely assigned. Time to jump up the chain. Quit calling the 800 number and find a number/email address for someone in citibank executive support (or their equivalent) who has the authority to recall the debt and settle with you directly...

Well, here are a few questions first:.

1. are you late on payments? If so, how long past due (30, 60, 90, etc?)..

2. Has the account been charged off?.

3. What kind of balance are we talking about?.

4. Is there a CA (Collection Agency) involved? Which one?.

I've done a couple by myself over the last few months, and still working on a few more. Maybe my experience can help.....
