Got a question, hope someone can answer... What is the song in the mlb dreams Discover Card commercial? Thanks in advance for any answer. My other question... I don't know what you mean by that. Why wouldn't TU be current?.. |

Good question... I dunno what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can help you..

The Platinum would be listed as revolving and included in your % utilization, but the Signature would be listed under the Other category and would be excluded from any utilization factor. What I'm wondering is after the card was changed back to the Platinum, the card started reporting as such....but hasn't started reporting you true credit limit again (Signature doesn't report limit). If FICO doesn't see a credit limit and as we all know with the old Crap 1...if no limit reported it uses your high balance. If that's what's happening, that would explain why your getting the maxed out FICO error...
The version of TU's FICO on MyFICO was released in 1998...It doesn't treat charge cards or visa signature cards correctly. It came out before Visa Signature cards even existed.....
That is exactly what is happening. One of the reports is listing as revolving. The other two are reporting as Other. However, none of them are reporting a CL. They are reporting the high balance which at the moment is the same as what is owed on the card. I called them and asked them about a month ago why my limit was not reporting yet and was told it would report with my next payment.
I called again today and they say they are going to fix it but I am getting a little annoyed, not sure they will do it... |
Does anyone know if this should be reporting as revolving, or is that for the Nordstrom Platinum?..
Platinum would be revolving and will show your real CL..
Signature reports as Other and will only show your high balance... |
Thanks. It is very confusing because one of the CRAs is listing it as Revolving but is not showing a balance. The other two say Other and are also not showing a balance. They did not change it correctly in the system...
Sorry, I was wrong it does not show Other, what it says is Open Account on EQ and TU. On EX it is listed as Revolving but the CL is listed as $0 on all three. This does not seem right to me..

It sounds like Signature card TL. Two of my cards (world Discover Card and visa signature) report $0 as limit...
But EX says Revolving which would be for a regular Visa Platinum yet there is no CL listed...
You now have the Platinum card correct? If so, all three of these entries are wrong..
It should be reporting as Revolving with a xx,xxx credit limit.. Is it your Experian score that tanked? EQ and TU should be unaffected score wise, as it's reporting as if it's still a Signature card and FICO utilization is unaffected by the Signature card type. Your EX score would drop because it's showing you 100% maxed on this card because of the their not reporting the CL for the Platinum acct.. I'd call them up again... |
I just switched back to the Platinum card a few months ago. I think this is the way it has been listing all along since I got the Signature card..
Yes, you are right, it is my EX score that tanked and that is the one listed as Revolving. It is also the one that gave me the reason code that my score is lower because one of my merchant card's balance is too close to my CL. The EX was never my lowest so I know something is wrong.. When I called Nordstrom the first time they told me to give it time. Then I called them again when I started this thread and they said they would report it. However, they don't realize that it is reporting incorrectly that way so I wonder if I should call Nordstrom again and tell them how it is listing so that it is done correctly this time. The first CSR I spoke to at Nordstrom told me to contact the CRA but I know better than that! Nordstrom has to be the one to fix it because if I dispute it with the CRAs the whole account could disappear.. This post has been edited by. Lorcan. : 17 December 2009 - 10:48 PM.. |

I checked my CRs online and also looked at the MyFico CR I got a few weeks ago. What I noticed is that on all 3 CRAs the card has not even been updated since August of 2009 and, as I already said, the EX card is listing as Revolving but with $0 CL. So I did call Nordstrom again while I had my CR pulled up. I told the CSR that the card was listing incorrectly on EX which caused my score to drop and that all three need to be changed back to the Revolving status but need to list the CL. I told her I called twice about this already and the account has not been updated since they gave me the new card back in August so please update it as soon as possible. She said she would put priority status on it..
This whole thing is really aggravating because the highest balance is listing very low but it has gone up in those four months which would have helped if they had bothered to update it. Now that they are going to change it back to the Platinum the higher balance will hurt more than help, although it is still less than 5% utilization. All in all, I just want it back to what it was and I am sorry I ever got the Signature card. Each time a card is changed or converted for any reason there is a possibility of problems like these arising. And if I was a person who didn't check my CRs I would go on having a lower CS without knowing it... |
Sucks about how this card seems to have a negative effect in how it's reporting for you, lorcan. I believe your case is an anomaly though as I know this activity/limit isn't even calculated into my FICO. It's likely due to your switch process and how it was handled....

I think you are right that they mishandled the switchover of the card. If that had not happened I may have been happier with the Signature card and stuck with it. Too bad. Also too bad that when I first complained about how it was affecting my scores they did not look into it better and maybe they could have fixed it rather than change me back again. Oh well, what is done is done. I just don't understand why they hadn't updated the account since August! That is crazy since I have been paying (with Discover card) it every month since the changeover in June..
It seems to me that Nordstrom Bank has been a lot more frazzled these days. Every time I call there I have to hold on for awhile because they say they have heavy call volume. Then once when I tried to use my card it came up that the merchant had to call in and then they kept him holding for quite awhile until I finally used a different card it was taking so long. I wonder what is happening with Nordstrom? They used to be so easy to communicate with... |
Just checked and mine has not updated since August either. Has anyone's Nordstrom card updated since August?..
Well, I'm not a good test case, since I converted from the store card to the platinum in August. But the reporting is strange, here's what I've got:.
EX. Visa with Aug 31 balance reported in September, but no updates since. "Date opened" same as store card. Store cardalso no updates since Sept.. TU & EQ. Visa trade line isn't being reported at all. Store cardsame as EX, no updates since Sept.. I like the fact that it's not reporting on TU & EQ, but it also isn't updating at all, and I'm not sure what problems that may cause, since I think FICO treats inactive accounts differently(?). So there is definitely some reporting weirdness going on, at least with conversions... and apparently with regular accounts as well. Actually, I thought the visa TL was supposed to replace the store card TL, but I still have the store TL on all 3.. RCJ.. |

Looks like Nordstrom has not been reporting since August. Maybe a cost saving measure. I also get the impression that times are hard at Nordstrom bank, or at least at Nordstrom Discover card customer service. Not like it used to be..

That makes me very nervous. I would hate to have them fold. They have always been my favorite card. I do know that they did some changeovers in their computer system which may or may not have something to do with it. At least I know they had a lot of phone backup during that procedure. But it has not improved with time so I just don't get it. Not reporting every month can be a cost cutting measure but it is done at the expense of messing up customers accounts...
Hopefully the non-reporting is simply due to a glitchy system change...
But the system change happened a couple of months ago so it should be back to normal by now. If it is that I hope they get it straightened out...
Nordstrom finally starting reporting again today for me on EQ (last update was 8/2009). They updated as of 11/2009, and included Sept and Oct as well. I saw it via the EQ back door...it has not shown up on EX's back door, and did not show up on my USAA-CCMP pull this morning. So...looks like they got their issue fixed and hopefully all CRAs will update soon...
For some reason, my Visa only reports to EX, but like you they just reported for the first time in several months. Wasn't there yesterday, now it is, and it's updated with a current balance that matches my card balance on or about November 23..
My one and only other balance reported (I only recently upgraded from the store card) was an Aug. 31 balance reported for Sept. My statement cut date is the 15th so I really have no idea when to pay this card down to keep a balance from reporting.. Maybe it will steady out over the next few monthsI sure hope so.. RCJ.. |
Yep, I think we're back in business. They updated EX today as well, and what's weird....they changed/retro'd my "reporting since" date on EX to 6 months prior to when I actually opened it...complete with history. K.......
I have not checked mine lately with the holidays and all. I will do so in the next two days and see if they have fixed my issue yet. I hope so. I also hope they will get back to reporting every month again...
All three of my reports are now updated with history filled in back to when they stopped reporting in August. So it looks like they are back to normal reporting..

Just to update, I checked my CR today and Nordstrom did correct both EX and EQ but TU is still listing as Open with no CL being reported. As a result, my EX FAKO score went up 32 points and my EQ went up 10 points. Naturally TU has stayed the same since they have not changed it. I don't know if I should give it some more time or call Nordstrom again and ask them why TU has not been changed yet...
For what it's worth, mine updated in this order:.
EX. EQ. TU. EQ was a few days after EX and TU was about a week after that... |
I would say maybe they didn't get to TU yet but they have updated my latest balance on TU as well as EQ and EX which is an indicator that they did report but did not change the category of the TL. I am going to call Nordstrom but will wait until tomorrow...
I called Nordstrom yesterday because I had to pay the bill anyway so I mentioned to the CSR the situation with TU still not reporting correctly. He suggested I call TU and I told him that I would never do that because they might delete my whole account. I told him Nordstrom has to do that so he put in another request stating that TU was still reporting wrong. I hope this gets back to normal soon...

EVERY MAJOR Discover card COMPANY.
Has a credit reporting department that should handle reporting issues.. |
Exactly! They have a dept to handle it but the CSRs always tell you to dispute it on your own. That is really bad misinformation to give to a consumer. If I weren't familiar with this board I could have gone for it and made matters worse. CSRs should know more before giving answers they don't have...
