Quick question: What is the difference between Discover Card and visa? Thanks in advance for any answer or 2. Another question on my mind: You will need to change your Online ID and Passcode within your next 2 sign-ins to continue using Online Banking..

Bank of America is dedicated to ensuring that your accounts remain secure and your personal information remains private. We have identified that your Online ID and Passcode must be updated to meet recommendations by security experts, who advise against using personally identifiable information such as your Social Security or account number as your Online ID or Passcode. Now you can choose a combination of letters, numbers or special characters to create a unique and memorable Online ID and Passcode..

Who are these so-called.

They are idiots if you ask me, how in the hell is a picture going to actually protect anyone, and since it's linked to your profile, if someone hacked it, they would know what picture you had, I'm a security expert and have been since I was 12, I actually am the one that gets to break into systems and gets paid for it...

The picture is just another line of defense. If you get a phishing email and you try to log into what you think is your account, the picture would be a dead giveaway. There is no one solution for security and just about every bank is going to this method, or will be. It's a PITA (especially if you log in from multiple PC's) , but I understand why they do it...

The picture is in case you click on a fake BOFA link that asks you to sign in, and then have a different/no sitekey displayed to you. It is for people who aren't computer savvy and up to date with "phishing", and have a habit of clicking anything they get via email (especially fake/fraudulent phishing scams, i.e., "your BOFA account is compromised. Please log in to reset your password").

EDIT: Centrip beat me to it.

Most online fraud does NOT occur because of failed secure online sessions, insecure passwords, or poor login gateways. 99% of fraud/data theft occurs because the IT departments cannot keep databases that hold millions of accounts secure. User end failure is extremely uncommon..

New bank motto -.

We make it impossible to access your account, so ID thieves can get in faster...

And the passwords could never repeat themselves. And needed to be changed every 90 days...

Truth..

Stealing one account at a time isn't worth the effort when it's possible to just grab the entire database..

The banks know a 45 character password isn't protecting anything, but it makes their customers think they're doing something about security. It's more of a marketing effort than real security...

You CANNOT be serious with that question??!!??.

If someone hacks YOUR online account, they can not only change the mailing address and other contact information to whatever they wanted but also get a new card sent to them and effectively wipe out your credit line..

Have fun cleaning it up because then you get to deal with the same net effect of the damage I had to deal with....

Oh wait, maybe zero liability will work for you...but don't hold your breath...

Access to secure messaging where they ask for a replacement card, change your registered mailing address and email address and ask for a business account to be created with more cards for their buddies sent out by Fedex the same day..

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, lost my identity and got stuck with $12K in debt..

Make your username and password secure, it's really not a difficult thing to do unless you make it that way...

It sounds like my processor... except for the bolded part. I use Poor2003!, Poor2003@, Poor2003# etc... recycling through the special characters. One time I forgot to change it before the 45th day and I needed to put in the old password and the new one. It refused to accept Poor2003! as the old password and locked me out.

It was pOOR2003!. I said I was not entering that for the last 45 days and he said (I kid you not) they only check the case on the expired password screen. Normal logins are not case sensitive, even though they require mixed case passwords. I was speechless...

Does this work on sites like Merril Lynch's 401k sign on? On these type of sights you can not even save the login site to your favorites because it generates a random number in the url and if the same number is used as the last time you logged in it locks you out. If the program you are talking about it that smart it could be useful...

I've been using RoboForm Pro for 3+ years now. I'm pretty sure it would be compatible with Merrill's login page..

It's possible that you might have to override the URL recorded when you first save your login and change it to what you would manually type to access the website. But even if the ultimate login page URL is modestly different, RoboForm will match on a partial URL and prompt to fill in the login when it identifies the appropriate fields as being on the page..

RoboForm is incredible software. It was what I term "software integrity". It's comprehensive in it's features and almost always works flawlessly. The companion flash card software (RoboForm2Go) is equally impressive. I've added a flash card version of the Firefox browser so that I can safely use 3rd party computers without leaving browsing history and other data behind on the computer. I've also protected my flash card with a version of McAfee virus scan...
