First off, What is the difference between a Visa Credit Card from A Discover Card? Hoping for any comment. Another quick question... My husbands NFCU Discover Card has a limit of 6000, and he wants to pay off the 5000 balance on it, does any one know if NFCU every decreases limit after a large payment. I know I have read that Chase and other credit cards do that after a large payment..

Just dont want the limit to magically go away...after a large payment...

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could assist you..

I haven't heard of NFCU balance chasing anyone yet. Doesn't mean he won't be the first though...

I doubt it. I've kept the same limits all the way threw the ups and downs of my credit journey and until they received my annoucment of BK. Then they shut me down!..

I doubt they will. They have never reduced me and I use my line up and usually pay on the day statement cuts (same each month)..

Be careful though, as they might place a 7 day hold on that large of payment if you "pull" it into them using an external account. They did that to me on an $8,000 payment. Since then it has stopped though after they had to call my other bank to verify payment cleared...

I approach 75-80% of my limit each month and pay it off, never an issue with them...
