Got a question... What is my liability for a fradulent charge made on my Discover Card credit card? Many thanks for any answer. Another question on my mind: It was my first card too. personally I'm relieved, because ive always wanted to get rid of my lower limit cards. it wont have an affect on my score would it?.. |

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an anything. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could give you an answer..

If you have allot of history on the card it could hurt.....but if it's fairly new you may not see that much of a change....also it will depend on if their are any balances on the card. Closing an account with a balance is a no-no.......on both sides...

If it was your oldest card, of course your score will take a hit, how big really can depend on many factors like, the limit, length, and how your next card in line is, if your next card was opened close to that one it might not be so bad, but if you had $10k limit and it could drop you by a good 10-35 points easy...

Maybe I'm in some luck, because the limit on this card was $900 (out of $30K of available credit on all cards). I have a $0 balance on all my cards. This, along with two cards were opened up on the exact same time so there wont be a loss on the age of my credit report..
The funny thing is, even though it is my oldest card, it is one of the lowest limits.. |

Age goes a long way.. it seems like I lost some points by losing my oldest tl. 10 yrs old and only $500 cl. I didnt dispute it either :/..

Based on your posts i'd imagine impact from this should be fairly minimal, curious how many was too many for chase, 09 was a year of building for me too.

Sorry about account closing!!! Chase can close for any reason..

Total CL will be somewhat lower but balances will still count towards overall util. Age factors into AAoA as long as closed accounts stay on reports..
