My first question is What is best Visa, Discover Card or american express? Thanks for any answer or 2. Second question.. It sounds like these cards will pull either EQ or TU. I havent applied for a Discover credit card in a while - but wonder if I would be worth trying for some new credit or not..

On EQ - there is one CO from 2006 (no balance), and some lates. there is also one Discover credit card with pretty high utilization, but overall utilization is around 30%. there are no CAs on this report either. 10 yr history..

On TU - it's pretty much the same except I have much lower utilization showing, but it also has a CA reporting (asset)..

I was really hoping for UMB so that I could hide the utilization on EQ. It sounds like USAA is good all around so it would be ultimately my goal to get in there. discover may be good for helping with BT as well as I pay down the balances.... any thoughts on whether or where to apply?..

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could give you help..

I don't know USAA will approve with high utilization. Last Feb, I applied for the card and I got denied (no late, charge-off) because of high utilization. Last week, I got approved. I have been paying (with Discover card) down and off my Discover credit card debts..

By the way, how long do you have the USAA membership?.

Thanks..

I have not pulled my scores in a while, but I am anticipating (based on what is on my report) that I'm around the same score (654) for the 3 reports. maybe i'll just buy the score real quick to be sure.

Did you apply with usaa? I just kinda wonder if I should try a umb first to be sure that utilization doesnt kill me if/when they pull EQ...

Last year, I got denied over the phone with only 9% util. They pulled EXP (692). I only got approved for US Bank Bath Bed and Beyond MC for $3000 (pulled EXP). I don't have any experience with UMB. I can't help you. Sorry!!!.

Hmm...similar to my profile...even the CA - the only one I have is Asset. My EQ was 654..

I got denied by Discover..

Too many inquiries on EQ and the CA and low AAoA. So if yours is better, then you could give it a shot with motiva. Especially if you have a long AAoA with a good payment history going on for a few years atleast as Discover is particular about that and also no CA on EQ. Now Discover pulls TU often but depending upon where you are, also EQ. I am in the south..

I just applied for UMB as we obviously dont have to worry about B on TU. I really just threw in an app only to see what would happen and if I could get lucky. Will let you know the outcome as it's only been 2-3 days..

You should have the best chance with USAA of the 3 in my view. What are your scores?.
