My 1st question is: What does it mean to buy a house on Lending Tree mortgage? Looking forward for any comment. My other question... Hello, I am a newbie here, been lurking around for a while reading and studying and taking it all in. I did my first round of disputes(online) and I got my first letter back from TU today with 2 out of 3 disputes deleted(one was a repo). The next round goes out tonight!.

I have a visa that was 3 times 30 days late in the last 48 months. I need a copy of the goodwill letter to try to get them to make my account show no lates..

I also have an old account(Strawbridges/May company) that was paid but it had a lot of lates, I tried disputing it as not mine and it came back verified. Should I try to dispute again and say it was never late or should I go to the oc and ask for validation?.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks.

Robyn..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably can help you..

Goodwill doesn't work well at all for closed accounts. Even paid ones. The wording in it just doesn't work. Very FEW have had success with paid chargeoffs or paid accounts that were severly late..

How would you ask them to give you a second chance and then when they don't, dispute it later as NOT MINE? That doesn't sound like it would work too well. You should use the goodwill for accounts that you still hold that were late at one time..

Also, the OC doesn't have to validate a debt. But it is worth a shot if they don't understand the law (your chances with the big company you are referring to is slim that they don't know the law!). Be prepared that they probably won't budge until you file a suit. Keep trying to get them on violations I guess. or you could write a better letter to the CRA telling them that you spoke with the XXXXX company in question and they said that you have NEVER been late. If you do in fact verify this debt please supply the name of the person giving you the erroneous information and ........etc.

If you want it to sound sincere, you better NOT use the same template!..

But, although they don't have to validate, you can dispute with the OC directly that you were never late...

3x 30days late in the last 48 months....it is my opinion that the goodwill letter would work best for this account (if it is still open). You don't want to have them verify or "validate" the lates on a less than 2 year old account, they more than likely still have all of the info. When you sent the letter to Foleys' did you have it CRRR? Why didn't you just dispute it as NOT MINE? Would have accomplished the same thing dont' you think? If they don't list it as "account disputed" with the CRA, it still served it's purpose and you NEVER said that the account was Yours!.

Also, when you go after anyone in writing that you were "NEVER LATE" be cautious. You may have hindered any chances of later going back to tell them that the account is NOT yours. When the CRA verifies with the OC, they may just say "Yep, we have a copy of a letter written to us that disputes he was NEVER late, we have verified it and sent him his statements showing such" BLAMMMM verified!.

I learned to NEVER dispute that the account was NEVER late in writing. UNLESS it actually wasn't. You are playing russian roulette with your credit if you do!..

I agree on the 3 x 30..

Foleys & me - I did dispute first as not mineall three reports, two accounts (one Rev other Inst), joint with hubby. Thats a total of 12 TL's. Deleted some of DH's, verified all of mine except TU, which deleted it because they didn't complete my dispute in 30 days. I recently discovered after my letter to Foleys, it has been reinserted, but as a paid never late. I'm not making a reinsertion issue since now it is a 8 yr old good TL..

I still didn't admit anything in the letter I sent directly to them here's a snip of a couple of issues:.

1.My report is alleging I was 90+ days late 24 times on one report, and 23 times on another. This same account is reported as 90+ days late 5 times on my husband’s report. Please explain how Foleys verified all this differing information was accurate on each of these reports..

2.Foleys claims that I opened this revolving account in 10/92. This was the one piece of information that was consistent on all reports. However, neither my husband nor I were living in or visiting the United States in October of 1992. The actual country we were living in did not have a Foleys. Please explain how this information was verified...
