Watching the Registry

by Forest on May 28, 2009

Bird and I spent part of the last few weeks registering for our wedding gifts.  I got to be the scanner gun guy.  That was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning so far.

Anywho, I might have more to say about registering in the future, but for now I just wanted to share this one milestone.

Someone has bought something off our registering.  It’s our first. :)

Now, don’t judge me.  I am not obsessively watching our registry, but I do think it is kind of fun that you can see when someone buys you something.  But we haven’t even really told anyone where we registered and we haven’t sent out save the dates or invites or anything, so I was pretty surprised that Bird’s mom told her today that something was purchased off the registry.

Now, I don’t know if Bird’s mom is obsessively checking the registry every day or what.  I don’t really know how she noticed it…but whatever….in a few months we’ll be the proud owners of these fine bowls:

Pretty exciting, huh?

How about you?

Did you/do you/will you watch your registry before your event?

Do you purchase gifts off registries or do you prefer to go your own way?

Well, I don’t have a registry (not getting married any time soon!), but I have a fun story from a friend. She was getting married, and had registered for a lot of kitchen stuff, (a lot of pink stuff, you know, branded for breast cancer…she LOVES pink). Anyway, she’d registered for the ever popular KitchenAid mixer (in pink, of course!) My friends and I went in on it (it’s a pricey item!), but weren’t giving it to her until the wedding. So after she opened all of her gifts, she wondered out loud who got the mixer for her, since it had been off her registry since very early on. We all laughed and feigned wonder. You could tell she couldn’t wait to get it and figure out who gave it to her.
