Valentine’s Weekend and the Big Move

by Forest on February 17, 2009

Here’s a brief update on last weekend:

Friday:  Bird and I celebrated V-day on Friday because I was going to be moving all day on Saturday.  So I sent flowers to her at work to get the day started right  (also, because I didn’t have any other gift for her that night…oops).  $47.96   For dinner that night, Bird had made reservations at some fancypants restaurant in Minneapolis.  The restaurant was really cool, unfortunately, the food was just so-so.  What’s even more unfortunate is the fact that I paid $120 for the so-so food.  It was a restaurant that we’ve been wanting to try, so at least now we have and I don’t think we’ll be going back any time soon.

Saturday: The big moving day.  I spent the morning packing up at my parent’s house and then helping my buddy, T, move into the new house.  After we got done moving T’s stuff, we moved mine.  It was an all day affair.  The nice thing is, I didn’t spend any money.  In the morning, T’s sister bought us donuts.  For lunch, our friend Jeff bought us Chipotle because we were helping him move stuff too.  In the evening, Bird and I had leftover pizza and watched four episodes of Buffy.  A very romantic V-day.  :) Also, a no-spend day.

Sunday:  I spent Sunday morning moving some more stuff and settling in to the new place.  I went out to lunch with my parents for one last time and then that evening, Bird hosted a dinner party at her place.  Another no-spend day.

Summary:  I’m a little disappointed that the food wasn’t better than it was on Friday night.   It’s really hard for me to spend that kind of money on food anyways, but I know Bird really likes to have a fancy dinner every now and then, so really I don’t mind.  It is kind of fun and we technically have the money to do it.  It’s just more fun when the food is REALLY good.

And I love my new place to live.  The location is awesome.

Also, I was very happy with 2 no-spend days in a row, especially on a weekend.  That makes 5 so far in February.
