I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer to that question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I got an anything. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could help you..

I have to agree with George on this one. They really have no business calling until after it's past due. Being that you generally preach personal responsibility regarding financial matters I'm kind of surprised at your post...

While I agree that it would be annoying and are an affront to personal responsibility, I can also only imagine the rants if the payment was attempted on Saturday and did not post in a timely fashion..

I guess I could also add that I have never seen Discover Card do this...makes me wonder which Visa issuer was making the courtesy calls...

I have no argument against this. I can only nod in agreement...

But it's not Friday yet... my guess is george ran it up higher than usual and they are worried he's not going to pay. BoA did this to me once. I told them to call back when it was actually late...

No, AmEx suspends your account without warning, and then when a customer calls to ask why, AmEx tells them that a payment must be made immediately or the card will remain suspended, even if the due date is a week or two away..

Much less annoying than a pre-due-date warning call..

Gotta agree with George on this one, though. No need for a business to presume their customers want a nanny ....

We don't even know for sure the reason for call. May be they want to give a CLI? Verify a transaction?.

We are pro actively making calls to our cardholders to remind them of a payment due on the account. If you would like to be removed from this reminder, please reply to this email..

===========================================================.

WHEN DID I ASK FOR THE CALLS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

"IF" I WAS LATE...THAT WOULD BE A DIFFERENT STORY..

Some issuers use certain types of models to prompt their system to target certain card holders in this manner. chase is one I know of that does this. surely there are others. I'd talk a little more about these models but I don't want to take the thread off track...

Wow. Calling and asking for payment before it's due? Are they hurting for money or what?.

I don't think you would have received that many calls *IF* you were delinquent...
