Got a question, hope someone can answer... Trying to add money to Discover Card fom greendot? Looking forward for any comment. Another question on my mind: Yes, before you even hit send. Is this legal?.. |

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably know..

AIM has a Direct Connection setting where you can do the very same. You can see the typing as the letters begin to fill up by the box, as well as any corrections, etc..
It's not uncommon at all. It's probably done by HSBC to save time. They can read it while you type, and once you hit enter, they can address it faster since they know what you were going to ask/say... |
Hmm, I've often typed a response here, then thought better of it, and didn't hit "Add Reply".
Guess I'd better be careful with my language even if I don't submit... |
Wow, that posted INSTANTANEOUSLY!.
Usually there's a second or two lag.. Was somebody reading while I was typing?.. |
Yes. We saw everything before you changed the subject of that post, Bob...
"IF" you really think this is fact.
TYPE THIS>If they don't hurry up and answer I'm going to wet my pants. ERASE. ERASE. ERASE. ERASE.. |
And then there are some people (who shall remain nameless) whose replies can be predicted before the words are typed .....
I wish they could see the hand gestures (specifically 1 finger) I'm making while discussing.
Anything with HSBC. THEN they might understand what I'm really saying to them.... |
With all the canned responses (I can certainly understand why you would be concerned...) I'm.
Never really sure when it's a real human or just a bot I'm talking to... |
I have never done a "CHAT" with any bank.
My E-MAIL to them is more "BOT" answer than not. It is possible they can only answer with 20 or 30 pre-assigned choices. This post has been edited by GEORGE: 05 February 2010 - 04:14 PM.. |

Do something similar to a Turing test.
Ask the chatbot/person a question totally out of context. What color is the sky where you are? for example. Unless it's the most complex turing engine around, the answer. Will either be a question in return or a generic non-answer. Not a perfect test, but it'll give you a hint..... |

Back in college, I actually wrote such a program using LISP..
Yes, a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away..... |
I dont envy you.. LISP code is so huge to do anything with all those branches.
I'm more on the systems/network/servers side. Sitting at a desk coding for 8 hours a day would make me commit suicide..lol. You stick with coding, I'll keep your servers up, your network secure and your. Workstation crisp and we're good..... |
