Bird and I have been talking about credit cards lately. You see, she doesn’t have one. And I’m trying to tell her I think she should get one so she can finally start building some credit history but I don’t know if she really even wants one.
Another reason we talk about credit cards is because I keep insisting on paying for everything with my Rewards card. This has really thrown us out of balance when it comes to how much we’re each paying in the relationship. I’m just trying to earn as many miles as possible so we can get a great deal on traveling in the future…who knows, maybe even for the honeymoon.
In the meantime, I spend a little bit of my freedom researching credit cards and dreaming up which one I think Bird should get. I think since I have a Miles rewards card, she should definitely go for the cash back. Neither of us is really interested in low interest rates or anything because we would always plan on paying it off every month. So I’m all about the rewards. There are some good options for cash back, even though I realize in this economy that even credit cards are cutting their rewards programs.

If you’re looking for your first credit card usually the best credit cards to apply to are ones that are offered at a bank you already have an account with. This is because they already have an established relationship with you and are more likely to give you banking deals and better rates if you’re applying for your first credit card.
