Quick question... Should you pay down your Lending Tree mortgage or put it in rsp's? Or half and half? Thanks for any answer or 2. Another quick question... Dear CN’ers.

In light of the intense emotional responses that are flying around, and the complete sense of chaos that has developed out of it, I have decided that the time has come to release Butch, allen074, and fla-tan from their positions as temporary moderators of the board. I do this with a sincere vote of thanks, and I hope that despite the craziness that has ensued these past few days, you all will join me in that vote of thanks. Because these guys have really worked hard and done the best job they could these past 6 weeks or so. They have quashed a number of Trolls, and have sweated over tough decisions, always endeavoring to do the best for the community. Now, in some cases they were right on, in others not, which is the same as I can say for myself or anybody else in the same position, but for sure they always meant well and did their best..

Since their identities have been made known, it seems they can no-longer function effectively as both moderators and members, and the time has come to let them get back to being valued participants on the board..

Thanks Butch!.

Thanks allen!.

Thanks fla-tan!.

I hope you guys will stick around and continue to make a positive impact on our community!..

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably can help you..

I respect the unilateral decison you had to make. Its tuff being the boss sometimes. I will be here keeping my fingers crossed for this board and these people...

Well... Since I can return to just being one of the guy's, (if they'll even have me at this point) I can apologize to everyone. I did try my best to do what was right..

When my dearest CreditNet friend Sassy quit I lost it, I admit. I'm currently typing this through tears as I try and spot the appropriate keys. I'm NOT the kind of person who cries..

My diatribe entitled, "Those Who've Not Left The Building" was a mistake, and I'm profoundly sorry to everyone..

Only time will tell if I will be continuing to post here. I never realized what this could do, and how upsetting it could be..

I dearly love this board and everyone on it, yes, even those who "left the building". I only did what I thought I had to do for the community as a whole..

I'll try and recover simultaneously with the board but if my posts don't appear very frequently, I hope you'll know that I love all you guy's. I may be absent for a while but I'll always appreciate you all. Most especially all the private email support we got during this chaotic episode..

When and if a vote occurs please do not vote for me. Any desire I've ever had to moderate is gone..

On to the next battle I say. Let's get those scores up..

:)..

All of us make mistakes and will make mistakes. It takes a big and good man to admit we he is wrong. You did what you thought was best and that is all we could ask for..

Sassy will be back just like many of the others will. Sometimes we get into difficult situations and unfortunately our actions only make things worse. Sassy and the others will come to realize this and I am sure will be very forgiving. Your words of honesty and sincerity will not be silent, they are what make you such a great assest to all of us here at Credit Net!!!!!!.

It is great to have the Nice Butch back!!!!!!!!.

I look forward to tapping into that wealth of knowledge you possess...

Good luck to whomever will become the new mods - I certainly hope that the issues of today never arise again and the board continues as it did say 6 mos ago..

I dont know why I was banned from Saar's board on yahoo tho..

If making me feel bad was the purpose of this whole exercise - it certainly has worked...

Allen, I'm truly sorry anybody made you feel bad. You have no reason. I remember you volunteering your expertise on technical issues from the time I came here, and that was shortly before PBM left. I hope that some of those that made you feel bad regret some of their heat of the moment statements..

Cheers...

Allen074,.

For what it's worth, I asked admin four times last night and once today to have the new moderation "vote" or "assignment" or whatever done at the earliest, during the end of January, and at the latest, during the end of February..

I think both a flat refusal to consider it at all and a knee-jerk decision to do it "effective immediately" would cause hurt feelings. The former would hurt many "vet" posters who reasonably wanted a voice in the process, and the latter - sadly - would hurt the three of you who, I'm sure, worked overtime and very effectively in cleaning the board from trolls..

Sadly, the latter happened and I'm sorry for your pain. It is understandable. But one moderator committed the "cardinal sin" of moderation and let his highly emotional feelings dictate his words and actions (all the more so in an already inflamed environment). So, while I didn't expect kaliban to end your jobs today, I am glad that he acted to stop Butch's post and to stop deleting (himself) the responses to Butch..

I like you, and personally have liked you as moderator. I hope that this experience will not stop you from continuing to post on the board. You are just as important a part of this community as any one else is..

And, finally, if it's any consolation at all, you're not alone in feeling bad. I feel bad, too. :-(..

Butch, don't worry about it at all. And thank you for your impressive honesty and for the apology. Although this was a very tough time for you and for everyone here, I do want you to know that I especially understand that this wasn't a scenario you desired or created you were simply there when duty called. As a peer of yours here, I also hope you know how much I respect the excellent credit-related advice you give to others on this board. Thanks for having the guts to get through this like the real man you clearly are and for so quickly reembracing us as friends..

Way back in the day (I'm talking QuantumLink, the Commodore computer based predecessor to AOL, circa 1988) we used to hug our friends in brackets. Like this: {{{Butch}}}.

Well Damn! You guys got to me. Guess I'm gonna have to start posting alot more around here..

BTW - Especially to Butch, Doc, Sassy, Saar and all the vets that have hung around here for so long. I have searched for your advice on this board since I joined last Sep. I must say that more often than not I have found exactly what I was looking for..

I haven't posted here much until recently and that's because I just got sued. The other board that I spent most of my time at has all but gone dry. I was beginning think that I was jinxing these boards or something. LOL. Seriously, I, and I believe I can speak for most if not all, do not want to see any of you guys go anywhere..

I'm so glad to see things are looking better now and I believe everyone else will come around too. Now those CAs, CRAs and OCs can stop laughing and start weeping again..

A real BIG THANK YOU for being here for us all...

I am glad that I chose to bite my lip during the recent creditnet- wrestle- mania. The war off words can be vicious and sometimes can cause irreparable harm to productive relationships. I hope that the honest efforts of Butch do not go unnoticed. Yes it is true that he started posting here not that long ago (relative to the old-timers)I remember it was about the same time I had an identity change and gave up my old handle of “gilliner”. Sometimes time on the job (creditnet) doesn’t reflect ones complete experience. It was clear that Butch embraced creditnet with all his being.

Other posts stirred the creditnet imagination and sparked productive reflection on different angles. I hope that you stick around..

Coming from a trade were seniority is everything, I understand the senior guys. Positions on this “high council of the creditnet” should have at least been chosen from those most senior interested individuals. But nobody really knew what was going on and hind sight is always twenty- twenty. I suppose that Kaliban can do want he wants as he is boss. And if we don’t like it we can go elsewhere..

Me, I am gonna just stick around and do what I do best,.

Lurk in the shadows and absorb some of life’s lessons..

To the three that are once again my peers, you are all worthy of everyone’s respect don’t let the drama get to you..

[size=large].

Long live Creditnet!.

The honesty in this thread is incredible. This board is like a family, we sometimes have our ups and downs. Lets all pull together and make this board great again. I have learned about 90% of what I know about credit issues from this board and it is an awesome resource. When you are down think about all the single mothers, students, scared people that we have helped know their legal rights. We are doing an awesome service and we need to keep it going.

Thanks to Butch, Allen , Fla-Tan for offering to serve. I hope all the "vets" that left come back as they have a lot of value to add to this board..

You know, in all of this, I have to laugh at anyone who banned me under the name "helpwanted"..

I posted a message to raise the awareness about how SLOOOOOOW this site really is. I am on Cable modem and I remember having faster speeds on dialup on a bulletin board system that was larger than this one..

Go to.

They have over 500 members on the rapmusic board at one single time and don't have the slow speeds that this board has with only 80-100 members signing on. Just because, I asked where all the people were going, and offered to help build a faster bulletin board system, you guys decided to delete me?.

Thats sad....seriously, my post is gone, my post count, everything about me. I'm essentially a newbie and any questions I have asked which people have responded to won't get answered under "helpwanted". I didn't even say I was leaving. I said "I WOULD" if everybody else left, but there is no way to prove that now that the post is deleted..

Thanks to Butch, I'm sure who cried his tears for deleting PsychDoc but won't worry about the little flea "helwanted"..

PEACE..

Butch,.

I'm sorry for the pain you are feeling right now and do know that you tried your very best to do a good job. I'm sorry this didn't work out the way you had wanted it to..

I for one know how much you love creditnet and all the people here....whenever we spoke you talked very highly of many people here on creditnet. I also know how much it means to you in helping others out here with their credit problems as I am one of the ones you have went out of your way in helping..

You have spent many times being there on the phone listening to crying before I filed my lawsuit and after trying to help me understand what was happening and what might happen next..

Only a truly caring person would have gone out of their way as much as you have done for me. It would be a great lost to creditnet if you stop helping others out here that are asking for help..

I hope that some of these message on this post will help you see that you are part of credtnet and you are very much wanted and needed here..

You were in a uniquely difficult spot, I agreed with the way you were handling it, we all make some mistake or other so as far as I'm concerned it's no big deal. This is just an electronic community nothing more. We all try to do our best but this is not always possible. Welcome back and please get back to posting...

Thanks for that marci, I truly appreciate it! Contrary to what many believe, I have done almost zero deleting of posts, and only deleted one account, and that at the owners express request. That person sent a very nice apology email to me for their part in the misunderstanding & requesting to be reinstated, which I immediately did, with a kind email in return..

I have actually gritted my teeth and bitten my fingers over and over again while enumerable messages were posted that I personally feel were not in the best interest of the board, and I’ve certainly never deleted any post criticizing me or the board. I’m very committed to non-censorship and always have been..

For my part, I have an apology to make also. I gather from some of the posts I’ve read that there evidently was a certain excessive amount of deleting and banning for some period. I honestly don’t think this was anybody’s intent, I think it kind of gradually spun out of control as the heat and pressure continued to build. I have to accept a real measure of responsibility for that, because I basically stopped paying attention after the abuse alerts and troll alerts subsided. I just (ass)umed that all was well. And when the moderators asked for my input, I mostly took a quick look at the mostly lack of email and continued to (ass)ume that all was basically well, with the exception of perhaps some moderator growing pains.

Perhaps some of this could have been averted if I had gotten more involved earlier on, perhaps not, but in any case, I certainly bear the brunt of the responsibility..

Any way, I appreciate your willingness to clear up the record regarding the notion of me deleting posts..

Regards,..

Actually fairnes, the temporary moderators were never given the ability to delete accounts. As I mentioned, there was only one account ever deleted, and that by my hand and at the owners express request. One of the reasons I was so pressed for time during the time that the temporary moderators were first enlisted, is because we frantically built a special interface for the moderators prior to my leaving town, and them going live, just in case something like this were to happen. They were only able to ‘disable’ accounts. That way, we could at least partially recover..

Your account has been re-activated, and you have not lost any seniority. Thanks for being such a gentleman in spite of the offense that was done you!.

Regards,..
