First question I got is Should I pay cash or Lending Tree mortgage a new home? Hoping for any comment. My other question... I had an open Sears account with a couple of lates from 1998. I sent a personalized version of the Goodwill letter to Sears via PFB and got a form letter back saying dispute had been verified and the lates would stay?! It obviously got directed to the credit dept. I will call and see if I can't talk to the correct dept, and if need be send a hard copy of the letter. I just wanted to let the board know that Sears is not as open and shut as it may seem. Thanks all... |

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably know..

Actually Sears was the subject of the original Goodwill letter and is known for success within reasonable boundaries(With Goodwill Letter anyway)...

Correction- one of the original. Marci wrote the original Goodwill letter which Psychdoc refered to in a suggested letter to Sears. Sorry for any confusion and a big thanks to Marci for the original letter!..

I believe in Psychdoc's case it took some time to get a response eventhough he called it in so the delay may actually be a good sign. In my case I am convinced the issue is it went to the wrong dept or the fact I haven't used the card in years. I plan on addressing both issues and think it has a good chance to work even if it takes time. Good luck!..

Hi, I was wondering if you had any update to your Sears goodwill situation. I just received my reply from pfb Sears and received the same letter you got from the credit department even though it was addressed to customer care. They validated my lates when I stated in my letter "I'm not disputing the late infomation.......just asking for a goodwill adjustment." Any luck on a contact or did you send off another letter? I just called the customer relation department to explain about the situation. The guy transfered me to a csr and she was quite rude. I explained the whole situation to her again and she said there is no such thing as a goodwill adjustment to remove late tradelines, they can only remove late fees. And then she said she was marking my account to note that it was denied a second time. Grrr. Don't call the pfb #...

I goodwilled them last month and was successful on a 90 day late from 2000, my balance was zero and I asked if they would revise to a rolling 30 but got a. Complete deletion.I did not like any derivation of the form letters out there so I came up with a simple two. Paragraph letter and kept it bohemian looking as possible. Sent it to CC services.. I thought about pfb but I think it might piss some companies off to do this as it makes it a little to. Public for them... |

Thanks for the posts. I haven't been pursuing this recently. I hadn't used the card in several years and thought that might be part of the issue. I am going to use it some, make sure it is paid on time of course, and then retry. I think it was Psychdoc who pointed out the importance of making sure it gets to good will not the verification dept. Again, thanks... |
