My question is PayPal and Discover Card gift card question? Many thanks for any comment. Another question I got... While I'm trying to rebuild my credit because I can't repair it any more I've kept an eye on my bad accounts that were still the the OC to see if I can find things to dispute. Yesterday I wrote about a good-will letter to HSBC including a check for a charged off account. Today I pulled my reports about 10 days earlier than I normally do and saw one that said Sold to Sherman. I did a WTF moment and found the same account reporting differently last month.

This is the report from last month.

This is the report from today.

I have yet to be contacted by Sherman and am confused on what they sold to Sherman. I'm wondering if the account was paid on 8/06 and closed on 12/06 why would it be sold six months later..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably know..

As for the Sherman issue, you will never be contacted directly by them. It's all with the Resugent/LVNV family..

LVNV might show up on the report, but they will hire other goons to collect. You'll never hear from LVNV either...

I would not contact Sherman until they contact you. I know you are trying to be proactive but, alerting them to the fact you are monitoring your CR's, IMO will just let them know you will pay with little or no ramifications to them...

Right I'm not going to contact LVNW/Resurgent/Sherman until they contact me but now other than re-reading the threads on them is there anything else to do. I haven't seen any inquires from Sherman or their hired hands yet..

I don't think so.. I have discovered that when they sell them to CA's they mark the original count paid.....

I have a similar account in my CR. it's a SEARS/CITI account that was charged off. The account was transferred to LVNV Funding. It is a paid off account (before knowing about CB..damnit). I was able to remove the LVNV baddies by simply disputing. My question is, how can I get rid of this SEARS/CITI charge/write-off. was opened in 2002 and last reported in 05/06...

Yes I.

Believe.

This account was paid to the OC and closed. It's from a time where my mother was handling my finances to get my bills straightened out and back on track. She made all her notes in a notebook which we no longer have. I do not recall every being contacted by a collection agency regarding any HSBC debt...
