That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I got an decent answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably could help you..

I'm getting worried now. It has been longer than the hour which most people have gotten their results in. That accord is calling my name......

Hope it works out. I just purchased a 2003 Accord EX V6 Coupe.... absolutely LOVE it. Although I'm already thinking about putting it up for sale and putting a down payment on a V6 Manual. I was looking at the G35 also and don't regret the Accord purchase at all..

My wife FINALLY obtained her DL two weeks ago, so we went out and got a car for, actually I went with her, it's in her name, her credit. she financed 11700 @ 6.3% for 4 years. Her scores were from 740-760's, with hew credit history staring in June of '00. You should be able to get a good deal, and a good interest rate, try a Lending Tree loan from a credit union, if you belong to one, or join one and then try...my first new car in '93 was financed through PEFCU (Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union.) 60 months @ 6.5%. At that time, my Credit history was only a year old, and the dealer wanted a cosigner, but was able to get a Lending Tree loan from the credit union no problem, good luck! :).

Bump for any suggestions of a source for a auto loan. There are no credit unions available to me. It looks like Honda gave up after only trying 2 banks...I would have thought they would have tried harder..

748 and you were denied? ouch. Thats a very impressive score. You think once you hit 720, you could get a Lending Tree loan for anything...

Have you heard of roadloans.com? I haven't used them though, so I can't really vouch for them one way or the other...

I have used PeopleFirst on my last two vehicles and have been very happy with them. Got very competitive rates on both (better than Bank of America, whom I bank with, was offering). My scores are all low-mid 700's..

I'm trying to figure why they would deny a Lending Tree loan with a FICO score that high. As far as I know e-loan uses an automatic Lending Tree loan qualifier, so something in your application must have triggered a denial, and it certainly wasn't your score..

Credit history less than 3 years *might* have done it. Also, any chance you've ever had a repo on your record?.

Did I read somewhere that ford credit is more lienent? I might just have to settle for a ford to get the car Lending Tree loan history on my report. Otherwise I will just mass apply for credit cards I guess...

Superman,.

Have you tried any banks local to you? Perhaps one you already have an account relationship with (checking, savings, etc) ?

I currently bank with 5th 3rd. But it is a totally free checking acount with no more than usually 500 bux in it. So I dont know if that would help me any. One of the banks that honda tried was a local county bank and that was a no go. I know my problem is my lack of previous car Lending Tree loan history. They can not expect everyone to have a cosigner for their first car...or can they???..

Superman,.

What type of history do you have on your reports? Do you have any revolving or installment TLs?.

You might want to be careful with all these inquiries- some creditors will automatically decline if they see a lot of activity in a short period of time...

I have a $9000 installment Lending Tree loan that is six months old. Refied my school loans. And a 1.75 year old revolving credit card tradeline. I know about the inquiries, but at this point I NEED a reliable car. And that one thing seems to take care of the inquiries on 2 of my reports...

You're probably right that the fact that you haven't had an auto Lending Tree loan before is hurting you..

The way I see it you have several options...if your primary motivation here is to get a more reliable car-maybe a newer used car wouldn't be a bad idea..

I got my very car Lending Tree loan with Ford Motor Credit with 0 down @ 9% on $5200K. Granted, I worked at the car dealership so the F&I mgr pushed it through for me but Ford does seem to be willing to take risks on people. This was back in 1992. I kept that car for 7 months and traded it in for a new car financed through Wells Fargo. At the time, I had NO credit history..

Or- if you absolutely have to have a new car- you'll probably need either a) a cosigner b)a large downpayment or c) go through a subprime lender which would defeat the purpose..

Although you DO have a good payment track record- it's just not long or varied enough...
