First question I got is Is VISA or Discover Card Credit Cards accepted or commonly used in Taipei, Taiwan? Thanks for any answer. 2nd question I got is.. This is what I have so far, but my brain is not working so well today. This is an account that I know is currently in collections, but it has yet to hit my credit reports. I basically want this to say that I am willing to make 2 lump sum payments as long as they continue to not report this to the credit bureaus. Or maybe also add in if by the time they receive this letter, if they've already reported it, that they will agree to delete it? I also sort of want to say something to the effect of...

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, has anyone ever tried anything to this effect? Or think this will be effective at all?.

To Whom It May Concern:.

Although I continue to dispute the validity of this debt, I would like to protect my credit reports by offering to settle this account for the balance in full, $2417.25..

I am willing to make two lump sum payments of $1208.63. In exchange, your company agrees to continue to NOT report this account to any of the credit bureaus (primarily Equifax, Experian, TransUnion). The purpose of this settlement is solely to prevent this account from appearing on my credit report. This settlement is not to be misconstrued as an acknowledgment of liability for this debt..

If you agree to the above settlement offer, please mail me letter on your company letterhead. This letter should explicitly agree to the same terms as the above settlement offer, and this letter should be signed by an authorized representative of your company. It will be implied that this letter shall constitute a legally binding contract, enforceable under the laws of my state. If this letter does not meet these requirements, I will retract my offer and I will consider my legal options..

Best Regards,.

ME..

The answer is Yes, however you might wanna make sure and wait for another member to confirm it as I am unsure of myself. Better yet, why don't you ask the Discover Card guys because they can help better...

Do they have validation? I would never offer to pay that much to a CA without full and complete validation (which never happens)..

Ok...had some time and decided to come back to your letter..

Few questions:.

1) How old is this debt?.

2) What state are you in?.

3) What was the original balance?.

4) Who was the OC?.

5) Which CA are we talking about?.

6) Have you received any phone calls or dunning letters?.

7) Have you mailed a DV or any other letters yet?..

They're not on your credit report now... are you sure that you want to pay in full? Unless this debt is one that is not padded with an exorbitant amount of fees and interest and you feel as if it is your obligation to pay the debt, there is no reason to pay it all. The CA would be more than happy with half of the money, but they're not likely to accept only half if you offer them all of it first...

FYI... this is from my college. Even though I have a scholarship there, it has always worked out that at the end of the year I would have a balance of about this much, that I would have to pay in order to be able to register again for next year. Then at the beginning of the next year, it was always credited back to me. However I've taken some time off due to surgery and my husband's deployment, so this got sent to collections. The balance has not had any fees, interest, etc.

I got a dunning letter, so I sent a DV letter, and they sent me the validation. I could nitpick over the validation, but I mainly sent the DV letter to buy me some time to be able to get some money to be able to pay this off. I have to pay this off in full to be able to register for my last year of classes, since it shows up as a hold on my account. I'm mainly interested in preventing this from hitting my credit report and being able to register for classes again this fall so I can finally graduate..

Any help would be lovely...

It's almost impossible to remember who wants your advice and who doesn't. I personally like reading Georges posts but if you don't, ignore is much more effective...
