My first question is Is Visa better than Discover Card or vise versa? Thanks for any answer. Second question of mine... Hey all!. |

You betcha! however you might wanna make sure and wait for someone else here to confirm my answer as I am unsure of myself. Better yet, why don't you ask the Discover Card guys because they can give you an answer better...

Do secured cards come in joint form? My husband and I both have issues with credit. Mine is bad (FAKO 575), and he has none..
We've been told by a FAKO site that his is a "thin file" and they couldn't generate a score at all. It has NOTHING in it (at least TU's report) except some old $157 collection for a phone bill we forgot about (plan to pay it in a couple of weeks at the latest, assuming they'll agree to delete it from his reports in exchange for the payment in full - thanks to CB I know to do that!. ) and a couple of hard pulls from putting in a GEMB app for a surgery loan website (denied) and a couple of other card apps recently (thought no credit was good credit, at least as long as you owned your home free & clear .. was so wrong)... |

If your reports are blank with nothing bad on them and your only problem is no credit, you could probably get a secured card from almost any bank or Credit union. Once you have that reporting you could get other unsecured cards. If you have bad credit, Orchard bank will give a card to anyone as long as they can verify your identity...

"IF" they call him...it would only be to find you when.
YOU. DON'T. PAY THE BILL. Pay the bill always.... NO PROBLEMS.. |
|
Orchard wouldn't give me an unsecured with my bad credit, so I will have to get a secured card like my husband will..
But that's ok, it's worth it as long as we find the right one... I'm sure they're not all created equal... |

Wonderful!! Thanks George..
Much appreciated.. We're committed to doing things right this time, which means using our cards to buy things that we could already buy with our debit card if we wanted to. In other words - if we can't afford to pay for it outright, we won't put it on the card.. The purpose of having plastic for us is only to establish good credit so that we can get a home equity loan to put our kids through college starting in about two years. I am hoping we didn't wait too long to begin this process... |

The Orchard secured card is a better deal than the Orchard unsecured card anyway. No annual fee the first year and a lower interest rate...
|
|
I just realized, Orchard is HSBC. I have a CA with them as OC still on my reports, due to fall off later this year..
Maybe I'd better leave that one alone... |
|
I doubt they would call, it's just like a reference, they can though...
|
|
And while I"m at it, would it be better to apply with my bad credit or my husband with his no credit?.
Seems like neither is getting us anyplace fast! Thanks!.. |
