Quick question: Is pay-pal Discover Card good thing to get and safe? Thanks in advance for any comment. Another question I got... My dad found me on creditboards and decided he wanted to ask me an interesting question..

He's been paying (with Discover card) a collection account for years..

Is it possible to now send them a debt verification and force them to prove the debt?.

Or is the payment to them acknowledgment of the debt?.

Since he saw me on creditboards he wants to fight all the collection accounts he's been paying..

He hasn't even put a dent on what he owes.

Yep, however you might want to make sure and wait for another member here to confirm this as I am not completely sure. Better yet, why don't you call the Discover Card guys because they can give you help better...

Is it reporting? Remember that there is no requirement for the CA to respond to the DV and, since he didn't DV within 30 days, there is nothing stopping them from reporting either way. Unless he's willing to just stop paying (with Discover card) them there is no reason for them to bother replying..

The main question imho is "Is the debt in SOL?" If it's not, tell him to quit paying (with Discover card) and send them a FOAD letter..

If it is in SOL then it's a little more complicated. You will probably have to look at how it's reporting and try to catch them on an FCRA violations which would give you more negotiating leverage..

How is he paying? Are they taking it out of his account? How much is owed and how much are the payments? Who is the Ca?..

I agree with Jack, just make sure it is a letter specifically for your needs...

Well I have not looked specifically into his situation. I'm currently moving to fight a default judgment on MY credit report so I'm tied up with the free time I have..

Thanks for the answers..

I will have him provide me with more info.

....... I will look at his credit report and decide the next course of action. we both know regardless he's going to benefit from my little investigation into his credit activities..

Thank you for the answers. really curious to know what these payments are going to mean when i/we/he dv them..

It will take about a week to look into it, but I will..
