First question I have is Is a medical school loan considered gross income on a Lending Tree mortgage application? Hoping for any comment. My other question... We are filing class actions over the junk debt collectors. This sub-species of collectors are buying up obsolete debt and re-aging the accounts by tampering with the DLA, etc., to bypass the data retention systems in place at the credit reporting agencies. Unifund and Experian were sued in Munson, ND ILL fed ct., Barnett, ED TX fed ct, Valez, ED, TX fed ct. and Norris, SD, TX fed ct.

We have identified Gulfstate and it's alter egos, OSI and Perimeter, as doing this.

We know there are many others. Metro 2 was a huge joke and did nothing to stem this activity. If you have this issue on your credit reports, please contact me. Hopefully with your help we can make this practice stop. David Szwak, Esq.,.

LKH, Maybe it would be better to start a new thread with GULF STATE/OSI LEGAL ISSUES or something like that. I personally don't have any issues with them, but I agree with you that there are a bunch of people complaning about them. Charlie..

If the issue of collectors making hard inquiries to credit files is virgin territory, perhaps you can use it in the case, and, hopefully, get a ruling. The scores seem to count them even though they are not "consumer initiated.".

I have seen on other boards that RMA and CAMCO are swamping people with letters on SOL debts. It looks like both companies just bought up a ton of them and are making them look like legal letters by including docket numbers. Big time illegal..

This board has a few people who have this problem...

I got a letter from Camco last week on debt that is from 1989. The SOL in CA is 4 years..

The letter mentionms that they recently purchased the debt from Fourscore Resource Capital..

They ran an INQ on TU. Called TU and they told me it's soft and not to worry about it...

My inquiry count was high due to RMA inquiries. I honestly do not think they should be allowed to pull a hard inquiry, let alone any. And if everyone would just let me vent a bit, I prefer to have RMA called THE BASTARDS...

A class action shouldn't have limits as far as what state you are in...

Send them a validation letter certified rr and then see if they do anything else to your file. If they get in your file... if they add anything to your file (without properly validating) the account then you're setting them up for fdcpa and fcra violations....

Do it now before they poison your file (even though the inquiries are soft, there's evidence that collection inquiries hurt your score and connote collection activity)...

If you're feeling brave, if they can't validate the debt within a reasonable time limit, you could then demand they remove the soft inquiry too.....

My fiance is being hounded by CAMCO, and they use 'case numbers' every single time they call and leave a message, which is numerous times a week !.

I don't know the DLA on the debt they're calling about, but I'll see if I can find out. If it's old, I'll certainly contact you about the class action. Don't know if it's been re-aged on his CR or not, have to check that too...

Hey david, how about starting a class action law suit here in CA? By California Law Credit Bureaus are only allowed to charge $8. They always charge $9. Except when you actually go to the HQ's for TU and Experian to get a report where they only charge $8(what is it $1 shipping and handling??). I haven't gone to the Equifax HQ, so I'm not sure about them. $1 a report for every person who has ordered a report in CA seems like it would hit them right in the pocket book...

My husband recently recieve a message left on our answering machine to call at once about case #xxxx. We had not a clue what it was about. Husband called and was given a hard core sell on a debt that was chd off in 1990. Collector said that CAMCO had recently purchased from FourScore and that was the date of last activity and SOL began again at that purchase date. We sent a letter of validation CRRR and have not heard back. Collector was rude, obnoxious and even offered to settle for $3000 if we paid at once.

These tactics should result in jail time! When I looked up info about CAMCO it appeared that they were not even licensed to do business until 1997 and that was not in FL but rather in IL...

Make sure you add Calvary Investments to your list. Hit me with an account review inquiry for an account that's 8 years old and never even reported! (old cell phone bill) Sent a demand for payment recently as well. I might just call and cash in on their stupidity...

I think Coldata should also be added. I'll contact David, even though this is a very old post, which I didn't realize at first. I came to this board over a year ago because a Coldata chargeoff showed up on my husband's CR when we refinanced out house. It's still not totally resolved, and we found dozens of other inaccuracies on the reports, so I've been lurking here reading for over a year, trying to read every post on the board...
