Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably could answer your Lending Tree question..

I think I put a "heads up" on this issue a month or so ago on here ... Shell is changing banks..
I haven't gotten the notice yet.. Big bummer!!! I refuse to do business with ExxonMobil, so that leaves me with little choice here in New England (for a nation-wide chain) with Texaco stations becoming Shell stations soon.. I really wish BP would buy someone out and come to New England!. Since Citi does Shell's regular gas card, I wonder if they will be offering a V/MC as well?. -mj.. |
|
What normally happens to a card when something like this happens?.
Convert us to "regular" non-reward CCs?. Option of other Chase card (Stockback?)?. "Closed by credit grantor.".. |
|
It looks like Chase will convert cards to a "comparable rewards" program it looks like Continental is 14%, I haven't looked closely at Stockback, but I'll probably just see if they can't combine this card with the plat. visa..
Chase will probably sell our names to the new bank who will then run them through a screen to make "preapproval" offers.. If it's Citi (Associates), expect an interest rate bump to 19'ish and a rebate decrease from 5% to 3%.. Argh... |
|
Chase would have no incentive to sell them, they'd probably.
Want. To retain these customers. If anyone's gonna sell them, it's Shell, who initiated the move.. Citi can be quite competitive when they want to. Hopefully, if it comes to that, they wouldn't place the new product in their subprime product category.. Saar.. |
|
Er, I meant Shell (duh!) Thanks for catching that!.
Does anyone have a Citi/ANB rebate card (ExxonMobil MC, BP, Citgo, ??) and what rates have you been able to negotiate?. TIA-. Mj.. |
|
Mj - I don't know if you are aware of this, but I just got an offer for a Texaco gas card and it says the Texaco card can be used at Shell stations nationwide. Just thought I'd let you know...

"CITI PUSHES CHASE OUT OF SHELL OIL FIELD" according to cardforum.com..

Actually- all Texaco and Shell Stations in the US are owned/operated by Shell or Motiva Enterprises (a 50% JV of Shell) and they have exclusive rights to the Texaco name through June 2004..
Shell is converting all stations to the Shell brand (or selling them) by then.. Oil companies are merging as much as the big banks have been.... Exxon buys Mobil. BP buys Amoco. Chevron buys Texaco (and Shell picks up all of the gas stations). Conoco buys Philips. -mj.. |

Ron - good catch. I saw that and figured it had to be ANB who would issue the new co-brand card (they already issue the Texaco + Shell gas cards, and won over the Exxon MasterCard from GE). The terms and rebate on the MC are really sucky compared to Shell:.
ExxonMobil MC:. Prime + 11.99%. 3% rebate on ExxonMobil charges, 1% rebate elsewhere. Conoco MC (Plat.). Prime + 7.99%. 3% rebate on Conoco charges, 1% rebate elsewhere. Citgo MC. Prime + 12.24%. 1% rebate on all charges - $40/month max. Philips MC. Prime + 7.99%. 2% rebate on Philips charges, 1% elsewhere. Sunoco MC. Prime + 7.99%. 4% rebate on Sunoco charges, .5% elsewhere (to $7500/yr), 1% elsewhere (over $7500/yr.). So... it may not be so bad, if Shell is committed to keeping a 5% rebate structure AND Citi keeps the rates reasonable.. -mj.. |

Mj,.
I have ExxonMobil MC for almost three yrs and I had the card when the card is issued by GE Consumer Card Co. Then they sold it to Direct Merchant Bank and later they sold it to ANB. By the way, they give me 11.74% for purchases and cash advances. I really like my ExxonMobil Card and I used it primarily for the gas. By the way,you can make payment on-line .. Ron... |
