Quick question: I want to get a capital one prepaid Discover Card but I owe them? Many thanks for any response. 2nd question I got is.. I pulled my backdoor EXP and EQ reports and found the following:.

EXP.

:.

No Public Records.

1 Collection Account.

3 Positives.

4 Hard Pulls.

EQ.

:.

No Public Records.

No Negatives.

3 Positives.

2 Hard Pulls.

Now for the CCT reports:.

CCT EXP.

:.

Tax Lien.

7 Collection Accounts.

1 Positive.

No Inquiries.

CCT EQ.

:.

Tax Lien.

8 Collection Accounts.

1 Positive.

No Inquiries.

Why on earth would my "official" reports show NO negatives (I know tax liens and COs don't just disappear!)? And if this information is accurate, why do my scores suck so badly? Granted, I didn't buy my scores today, but I know they suck because I just tried the Orchard/HSBC soft pull site just yesterday and was only approved for a secured..

One thing: I did just dispute my names/addresses, and all but one negative account was associated with an 'obsolete' name...

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I got an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could help you..

I have my EXP hard copy and it exactly matches what was on the EXP site today, not CCT..

I have my TU report and it matches CCT exactly. I don't have my EQ hard copy; expecting it any day now...

Just my name/address disputes which were filed 11/25. It looks like they're completed because most all the name variations and old addresses are now off my reports...

So you already had a hardcopy EX report (directly from EX) that matches what you pulled today?..

You know what... I started to say Yes, then I thought about it and remembered I printed it out from the EXP site..

Keeping up with all the paperwork is so hard for me for some reason...

So the information on the EX and EQ sites might be different than what's in the hard copies directly from them?..

I would get hard copies of your credit reports directly mailed..

But vintage did bring up a good point, it could be possibly split..

Or maybe when you disputed the old address EX & EQ deleted the Tax lien and it just hadn't updated w/ CCT yet?..

Oh if only.... LOL But just my luck, it would reappear..

My EQ is on the way, but EXP responded to the letter with a "suspicious request" letter. I'd already deleted online with them though, and names and old addresses were removed. I think I'll leave that one alone...

"...I just tried the Orchard/HSBC soft pull site just yesterday and was only approved for a secured.".

Which website is that? They soft pull to see if you're approved for a card? I'm guessing they hard pull when you actually apply for it...

I just printed out the form to send in with my check for the secured - so far just a soft on TU and EX. I sure wish I could get an unsecured but I'll have to wait until my credit's better. There has to be something on my hard copies from EX and EQ that aren't on the web site, otherwise I'd probably qualify for an unsecured. It really has me curious. Why would my reports on both sites be clean? Doesn't make any sense..

I searched for soft pull sites that pull EX and EQ, but then it occurred to me - I'm opted out. Hmm......

Mike,.

This is the HSBC Preselector. You can google it, or it's in a sticky..

You're right, Soft on pre-approval, then hard. And it's not 100% accurate. I have an Orchard, opened 7/2008. Did pre-approval, was approved for another card (Weekender, maybe?). I went through with it. At the last minute, denied.

It was the 18 month rule which I knew about, but I honestly assumed their pre-approval would've detected that. Nope. Took the f'n hard pull on the chin. Real crappy thing is that this was in November. Just 2 months before the 18 month window...

Ahhh, found it. I was only pre-approved for their Secured card.

Oh well, I've opened enough cards recently to start building my credit score so it's all good...

Mike, are you opted out? Does anyone know if being opted out would cause the pre-selector sites not to work (or just offer up the worst case scenario=secured)...
