I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an decent answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably could answer your Lending Tree question..

And because credit (scoring) is so important in todays world. Literally, being able to buy a house, car, big ticket items depends on it and the more you know the better decisions you'll make..

Hey Lb,.

I would guess:.

1. More people have damaged credit, and now slowly becoming aware that credit is VERY important..

People are also finally figuring out that that 3 digit number (FICO) has more control over some people's financial lives than they thought..

2. This site shows up # 3 and 4 on some search sites when someone types in certain words, even words that have nothing to do with credit..

3. People tell others about this board, and they tell people, and they tell people.............

4. Some people come here to start trouble, (which is the answer to your other post)..

5. Some of the posts at MSN money have a link or 2 to this site..

And last but not least:.

6. This board is 'da bomb', who wouldn't want to come here?.....LOL............

;-)..

The reason I came to this site is that all of the clean your credit agencies are bs. They are essentially a scam. I figured that with all of the books that are out there, I would probably get more first hand experience advise. I am cleaning my credit after so many years of just being turned down. I am also a victim of the college student credit card thing. I blew my credit that way and I have been miserable ever since.

I am a newbie and I am wading in deep and turbulent water...

That's what it is in my case. I've found you all so much help that I've told at least 5 or 6 people who may or may not be on this board...

As a new poster, I can give you my own reason. I didn't look at my credit reports for several years because I already had a Lending Tree mortgage and credit cards and was trying to stay out of debt. Then interest rates plunged to 40-year lows and I realized it would be beneficial to refinance. Unfortunately, several medical collections had already hit and tanked my scores. I was familiar with Carreon & Associates from the emails they routinely send, and that finally led me to this great site. After reading the top three posts, I decided to hang around for awhile, at least until I refinance my 8.75% mortgage. Hope my experiences and discussions here can help others...

We were on the verge of bankruptcy after a 1 yr layoff. I actually found this site through a bk forum that was recommending to check here for starter cards. I started reading, and felt there might be hope. Well, we got the first paycheck, I started putting out fires, and actually did my christening disputes during CHOD. My tagline can attest to what I would call success in just about 8 weeks now. Sure, they are still lousy, but less lousy than when I started! And, I won't have a BK hanging over my head until my youngest graduates high school!..

I found this link by accedent will searching a Yahoo group. There was a ref. to the Nutcase letter and a reply from Psychdoc with a link. I had been reading, lurking and posting at the other one with very slow, mixed results and what seemed like a limited pool of old hands at this. It is a good group overall but Cnet ROCKS!.

Main reason for searching out sights like this: Bad credit, bk and need for mortgage...

You know, coming here and getting advise is the easy part, even though I hate being in the situation to need it. The thing that I like the best about this group is that their is a large sampling of "been there, done that" people who stick around and help out. MANY THANKS!!!!!!..

Greenvan.

There are several Lending Tree mortgage lenders, non-conforming lenders, that most likely will ignore medical collections. It may be that you can still get a lower rate in a refinance. I would need much more information before I could say with any certainty though..

I found this board after seeing other posters mentioning it on another credit related board..

I decided in August after I figured enough was enough. I have lived with the stigma of bad credit since I was 19-and I'm 27 now. Granted, a lot less time than others do but 8 years is a long enough sentence..

My credit problems can't be traced to one specific event or timeline, it just started when I was 19 and bought a car I couldn't afford. Turned it back over to the bank and was then sued for $5K. I paniced and filed Ch 7..

After the Ch 7, it didn't get much better. I made the cardinal sin of continuing bad payment histories after a bankruptcy. Because of this, I could not get any type of credit except for 20% car loans and 30% personal loans..

I was very immature about being financially responsible until very recently. I've learned a lot from this board and know that I will continue to do so. You can kind of see the different stages people are in here and learn from those that have gone through the same thing. Also, reading posts by those who have already completed their credit journey gives me hope and keeps me from reverting back to old habits...

I found this place through a link on a parentsplace.com board. Someone recommended it to someone else who wanted to buy a house but was having trouble due to credit..

At that time we were thinking of taking advantage of the low rates and getting a house of our own, so I decided to start the journey to fixing our credit. We then decided that it wasn't worth it to buy a house in a place where we're pretty much guaranteed to be moving from in a couple of years, but by then I was hooked! LOL..

Now I know that when we do buy in 2005, we'll be able to get a great Lending Tree loan :)..
