Quick question: I love those Discover Card commercials? Thanks for any answer. Second question of mine... Ok, engine blew in car, 16 payments to go. Either pay $4k for used engine on 84K mile car or get new one. Got new car with mother in law on title as cosigner..

Payment lower, etc. What do I do about old car. Long story short, nightmare from day one. Had it in shop 21 times in first year of /img/avatar8.jpgship for car literally shutting off. Bought used, 20k miles, clear car fax. Did lemon law got $2100 out of it, but couldn't trade it in.

After attorney general and NHTSB complaint, Jeep finally sent two programmers to my town to reprogram computer. Still failed a few times after 'fix'..

Driving home from business trip, oil pump went. Computer was supposed to shut off engine, didn't. Past powertrain warranty and could not afford to fix..

What do I do now? Loan is with HSBC, who sold all receivables to another company. Do I call them and tell them can't pay to fix, please take, or let them initiate all of the steps, hoping they miss a few so that I can get out of it on my credit report? Ideas or advice? Thanks...

Doesn't matter it was a chrysler. I have one of their POS right now and soon as extended warranty ends in November will try to get rid of it...

Just because you are a joint owner doesn't mean that HSBC couldn't go after the vehicle if they had a judgement against you. They would just need to file with the state as an additional lienholder on the title..

Not saying thats likely, just that is very possible...

It was a 2005 Jeep GR Cherokee LTD. Apparently the engine/computer thing affected 2005 JGC and 2006 Commanders. Add in the taxes and it's pushing $3300, put it doesn't matter. The thing is cursed, best if it's crushed into a cube.

Should I call HSBC or let them make their moves? I just started getting stuff cleaned up on report. From looks some of it is updating, but not correctly. I'll do that in different topic. I'd like to have good chance of them messing up. Should I just call them?..

My experience with HSBC is that they populate their collection department with nothing but complete ***holes. I went 30 days late on 4 HSBC cards due to a housefire. Total balance across all 4 cards was just under $550. I had over 2 years of perfect payment history.

They kept called me 10-15 times a day for over a week AFTER I explained the situation and had paid off all 4 cards in full via their website.

When they finally did post the payments they closed my cards and are now reporting a 60 day late 2 months after the cards were closed..

I hate them..
