First of all I am 13 going to be 14 can I have a prepaid Discover Card? Hoping for any answer or 2. Second question of mine... My bankruptcy was discharged in December 2009. I have only applied for credit with Hooters however I just got a card in the mail from Credit One. I have read quite a few things about them on this board and around the net. I really do not want to activate this card if it's not going to help me rebuild.

It has a dinky credit limit of $200.00 which means I can't really use it for anything because any usage would essentially put me over my utilization.

I applied for Hooters and noticed Capital One circling my reports. Should I wait it out and see if I get approval from one of them first? I only want one rebuilder card. I have an auto loan that I didn't discharge and have never been late on and I am an authorized user on two of my son's cards. My FICO is 576 out of BK..

The company sucks, the interest rate sucks, the fees suck, they annoyingly charge you the annual feel in 12 installments (due each month), nickel and dime you at every corner, and their customer service is both horrendous and incompetent..

That said, I started with a $300 CL and it's climbed to $800. They'll give you a CLI pretty much every 6 months if you ask..

Not one to keep around forever, but when you need a rebuilder, they'll do the trick..

I prefer Orchard in almost every regard, but they're stingy with CLIs...

Agree with Troy. I canceled mine recently, but I am pretty far in the rebuilding process (I had that card open for a few years, along with HH Bank and Capital One)..

I started with $300 CL and ended up with $550 I think?..

I personally would wait. No point in paying (with Discover card) the up front fees Credit One charges if you don't have to...in fact, I personally would rather scrape together enough money for a decent secured card...

Use it and pay it in full every month. they have something like a $5 dollar a month fee which is high but if you're rebuilding, that's what you've got to do. keep it for a year or two then ditch it. if you pif it'll add to your util and it's a positive tl so it's only going to help in the long run...

Here's the question: When you activate the card, how much of yoru total credit line is going to be available?.

Are they going to load it with $100+ in fees?.

If so, I wouldn't activate it. Go for Orchard Bank. They approved me with a Fico nearly 100 points lower...

It would start off at $125.00. There is a $69.00 activation fee plus an annual fee billed in 12 month increments of $5.00..

Give the HSBC Orchard Bank Preselector a spin. I got that card when I was at like 490. I refused to pay these "program fees" and "activation fees" and, my favorite "credit line increase fee"..

When did orchard quit charging the credit line increase fee? I know that when I had them in 2007 I called and had to get a supervisor involved because they doubled my CL from 200-400 without my permission and charged me $50 for the priviledge...

I did the Orchard. They want a $69.00 application fee. WTF is that? If I'm not approved do I get it back?..

Application fee? I've never seen them have an application fee. Are you sure that wasn't an annual fee?..

I'm thinking it's a "processing fee." When I got my HSBC Plat, I had to pay a $19 processing fee...

Unsure, but I've called and requested 2 CLs that have been granted and was never charged a fee...

My bad, it was a processing fee. I was shocked because HSBC is $19.00 fee. Wondering why Orchard's fee was $69...

Maybe because your credit is bad enough that they expect "issues" from you but not bad enough to warrant an annual fee?..
