My 1st question is: How many numbers are in a Discover Card number? Many thanks for any response. Another question I got... Wow, I go on a Discover card spree and I end up worse than before ...Just a week ago I was happy to have received an $8.5K cr line citi aadvantage c.c, priceline $1K, and a few "smaller" cards (victoria secrets, ikea, jc penny, jared's and their sister jewelry store).. and my local credit union / $3K....

1-2 days ago, priceline cancels me b/c "you have too many inquireis (see previous link below)..... Then today< I try to use the citi aadvantage, and it'c cancelled, 1 (ONE) day after receiving... reason "too many inquireies"...

WTF!?>?!?!?!!?!?! Will Citi even consider giving me a smaller line? I talked to a phone clerk today but nothing, I have to talk to a manager THurs.. I did the same with priceline and nothing, they said NO....

Just frusttrated after working soooo hard on my credit, now my own dumb inquiries have screwed up my credit ...

Credit applier beware...

First Discover card cancellation..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could give you help..

Your creditors review your cbrs on regular basis.

In part so they can nip v. risky behavior, like app frenzy, in the bud..

Since you were app for the SD anyway you shouldn't miss the cards..

Hopefully you satisfied the frenzy since it really aint workin for ya..

Keep in mind there is nothing to prevent further AA by contacting them and triggering further 'review'...

Omg, right, lol... that's how I felt about the priceline, whatever... lol... but the citi aadvantage was "the card" , since I travel monthly on american, it was perfect... plus with a higher c/l it's easier to travel vs having 3-4 credit cards with sub $1K limits ... it's all company business and reimbursed, paid montly ...

Oh well..

Are these companies (Citi here) pulling a soft shortly after approval?..

Thats what I am thinking.... maybe as soon as you call in to activate it... b/c both priceline and the citi were authorized when I called in... actually the priceline I charged $400 within a few days, then bamm they close it... The citi I went to put gas within a day and it was declined... / closed.....

I did an app spree last Sept/Oct..

I have 5 new TLs thanks to it, BUT....I have received 2 offers since then, and BOTH have been denied, one due to "too many new accounts" and the other due to "too many inquiries.".

I have 4 INQs on EXP, 5 on EQ, and 1 INQ on TU. My scores are 740 on EX (vantage), 687 on EQ (FICO),.

And 744 on TU (FICO)......

It appears that the AMOUNT of INQs seem to trump everything, even Util....what I AM worried about is what NFCU will do when they do their AR next month. They pull EQ.

I think App sprees are no longer a good thing, seriously..

Oddly enuf, the ONLY TL I got a CLI on was my Citi "Shell" card. They doubled the CL, to $1600.....

Based upon what I've seen in the past, I've surmised that Citi, Amex and a few others subscribe to monitoring products in which they're notified each time a cardmember's file records an inquiry or new account. These notifications show up as soft pulls on your report...
