My first question is How do I learn the Lending Tree mortgage buisness? Looking forward for any response. Another question... Hey guys and gals,.

I received this letter in response today for a validation letter I sent out, please let me know any opinions on how I should respond. The acct is paid, but I don't want it showing at all:.

[begin letter].

Our records reflect that the debt to which you refer in your letter dated 11-11-2002 which appears to have been faxed to us on 11-12-2002, has been paid in full in the final months of the year 1999 and that the credit bureaus were so informed at that time..

The request that you make, therefore, that UDR verify that the referenced debt is justly due and owing to UDR at this time, cannot be made..

If your inquiry into this matter is brought about by a current derogatory listing on your credit report that reflects the debt is still owing, please let us know which bureau it is and we will re-send the notice of full payment to it..

Delivery is made via fax only as requested..

[end letter].

Okay, I sent a standard validation letter, the one found in the sample letters here. The place listing this report is UD Registry Inc..

Anyway, it doesn't matter if it is owed now or not right? He's basically telling me that he cannot provide any proof to substantiate this debt, right?.

Side Note: If I send a C & D, is it a violation if they verify with the CRA?.

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks...

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably know..

Yep, it shows as paid (Paid/Collection to be exact). It's listed on all three reports. I sent the standard validation letter that can be found in the sample letters section on this site...

Do a search or look in the FAQ for Doc's nutcase letter. A lot of us, including me, have used it sucessfully for removing paid collections..

I wonder if it'll be even more effective after a traditional validation letter...

Well, I thought about sending the nutcase letter. I think if I send that, I'm admitting that it's mine. I don't want to admit to it and loose that position of power. I'm trying to find another way to go about it..

I was thinking of writing back telling them that they can not report information that they can not substantiate, and to either send validation that it ever existed, or delete it from my reports..

I relaize that I'll eventually have to back that approach up with an intent to sue. So like I said before, I'm trying to find a more "creative" way of getting this taken care of..

Do you have any other thoughts?..

The nutcase is not admitting it is yours, quite the opposite. It is demanding validation that goes above and beyond what any collection agency would adhere to and implying that you are 'nutcase' enough to sue if they don't comply...

Hey, thanks a lot. I just reread the nutcase letter, and you guys are right, that's pretty much what I want to do. Thanks!.

Just out of curiosity, can someone answer the side note I asked about.

:.

Does a C&D letter bar the recipient from reporting to the CRAs?.

Thanks!..

No, c&d stops collection activity. There is no collection activity b/c it is paid...

What if an account was paid but you have reason to believe the account should not be reported in your name. Perhaps another adult in the house signed for services? Can that be reported on my credit report? Since it's paid, can it now be reported on the other family members credit report?..

Errrg, maybe I haven't had enough coffee, but I think you need to be more specific here. If, say, another adult signed for the connection of a cable account that was set up to be in your name, then yeah, it can be on yours but you should be able to nutcase it off..

I suppose anything is theoretically possible, but I don't think it's likely to be reported on the family member's report now that it's paid. You would have really had to piss off the CA for them to actually go back and do work on a paid account...

The case here, is an old medical bill. At first, this was put in my insurance, thats why my name is on this account, however, the services were not for me, and I never signed for them. It was my wife..

We paid the bill before I knew it was on the old report. Now I'm trying to find as angle to work with...
