I personally believe the number of complaints is not nearly enough what it should be. We see more complaints on this forum than the FTC receives per year. That aint right....

WOW!!!.

Almost 20% of all complaints to the FTC were about FDCPA violations....

Let's bump that to 50% next year gang.....

Even if it's a small, one paragraph complaint....every time a CA does something wrong, file a complaint.....

Become a thorn in their side..

Oh nice! Maybe once my suit starts showing up I'll get on that list..

Although I dunno...I could use extra money from their violations..

People need to start directing those complaints to the federal courts instead of to the FTC...

If I had the money, I would have considered that along the way.

The FTC is required to give a report to congress every year regarding collection activity. While complaining to the FTC usually does not help one's immediate problem nor punish the offending CA/JDB immediately, there is a cumulative effect...

For me, the linked 'Workshop' report is much more interesting: "Collecting Consumer Debts: The Challenge of Change".

In a nutshell, the 120-page report summarizes much of the gazillions of discussions that go on here at CB..

The whole "What is proper validation?" question is addressed head-on. I got insight into the issue from the CA/JDB side, to which I had never given much thought:.

IF.

They want to 'play fair', it's a challenge for them..

Being the cynical type, I view this doc as a handy-dandy blueprint for the banking lobbyists. We know they're especially active at the moment..
