Quick question... How do I access CitiBank Discover Card personal account online? Thanks in advance for any response. Another question... Hi, all,.

Well, no sooner do I get a handle on the credit problems than I find out I've got major tax problems in my personal and small business taxes going back several years. I need help from someone versed in state (CA) and federal who can help me make the most of legitimate deductions and get these things refiled correctly. I looked up the Tax Masters and Roni Deutsch, but they've got some pretty negative reviews online..

I don't know if I need a CPA or what. Someone please point me in the right direction..

Thanks in advance..

JM..

Which tax years do you feel that you have problems with on the California Returns ? Which tax years do you have problems with on the Federal returns ? What types of taxes..........Income ? Sales Tax ? Employment taxes ?

Personal returns ? Partnership or Corporate Returns ?

IF...you have had thoughts of using one of those "pennies on the dollar settlement" places that are all over the TV and radio with their commercials.........Google them before going there..

A real tax attorney, or registered agent is the way to go in IMHO..

First, there is no such term as a "REGISTERED AGENT".............The term is "enrolled agent", or "EA"..

Second, before anyone makes all of these '"suggestions", why don't you find out exactly what the OP's problems actually consist of.......instead of being a bunch of "jailhouse lawyers"............lol..

While I'm diametrically opposed to utilizing any of the groups that advertise their wares on television and billboards to settle cheaply utilizing an "offer-in-compromise", suggesting that he/she spend an average of $500+ per hour for the services of a "tax atty" is rather cavalier, especially when it's not your money that's being spent..........in addition, until the OP decides to share further information about his particular problem, you have no more idea who to send him to than I do..........and rest assured, I know plenty more than those making such suggestions......which is specifically why I made the inquiry in this post that I did previously, which, to this moment, has remained unanswered..

Sorry, but when it someone comes on and says they have "Several years" worth of Personal & business taxes that are a "Major" problem.. I'm ALWAYS going to suggest a CPA.

I don't mess with the IRS.. Period...

I stand corrected "enrolled agent " is the proper term..

The OP was asking " who do I call". I am not a jailhouse lawyer, but have had a serious tax problem. I simply offered my opinion of who he should seek help from. That he do some research before spending his money with anyone. An initial consultation with a tax attorney would cost nothing and might be the prudent thing to do at some point. Unfortunately not all CPA'S are created equal, no offense intended.

Would someone with a serious tax problem be better off seeking out a CPA, or a CPA that is an enrolled agent?..

Until the OP responds and provides more information I would be loathe to suggest whom he should seek to assist in the solution to his/her problems, which again, is why I asked the questions that I posed. One of my main concerns for him/her is that some, if not all, of the issues expressed in the initial post are past the SOL under the code already, thus negating the reason for spending money to "correct" the problem on those particular concerns. Until we know this, there's little reason to suggest the direction which the OP should proceed. My initial interpolation of his/her post suggests that he wishes to amend previously filed returns to lower the tax liabilities, thus the SOL issue, however, unless the OP returns to provide more detail, it remains little more than specious rhetoric, and a "guesstimate" at best...
