Got a question... How can I get the phone # to emerge Discover Card? Hoping for any comment. Second question of mine... Is B of A reviewing EVERY Discover credit card account this month? Or is this a rumor? If true is this because the new law kicks in next month?.

Never had a problem with them..

What is the deal that says if you call them for ANYTHING....you will get your account flagged/ in trouble?.

Also.

I've had an Amex gold charge card forever (24 years), for travel related charges. Is there really a limit on this card that I would ever have to worry about... within reason?.

Thanks for responses..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could assist you..

No idea every few months at least based on CRs.

FWIW BOA seems to have switched to more manual reviews of CLI requests.

YMMV if you're already at a generous combined CL with BOA/FIA, had a CLD before and don't use the CCs much...

AMEX.

Has an.

"EXPOSURE LIMIT".

It can change at the drop of a hat.

...and.

PLATINUM.

Does not automatically mean a bigger.

"EXPOSURE LIMIT".

Somebody recently got $450 annual fee PLATINUM with $1,000.

"EXPOSURE LIMIT".

There is a way to find out what it is....

JUST CALL ON THE PHONE.

They may just tell you to pick a number and they will plug it into the computer (they may not tell you all the facts)..

For FIA, I have thought about asking for a CLI but decided not to. The new CL will not be reported (VS) and there have been a couple of posts about CL reductions on other BOA cards (that do report CL) to grant FIA CLI. That only applies to the VS version of the FIA cards and YMMV on the reductions..

My other BOA cards report CL and IME so far CLIs were approved. Lately CLI requests are not instant, but still soft pulls only. So far so good...

I am not having luck w/ BoA calling in, OP..

Over the phone, the CSR told me my new account would have no $59 AF in 2009, and then I got slapped with it this year in 2010. They sent me leaflets saying that I can get double rewards points when I switched to a PowerRewards Visa in 2009, and now in 2010 they told me my card isn't applicable to that program..

I would tread lightly when calling this bank or trusting anything that they send you in the mail; they were very good to me in 2008, but I don't trust anything they say now because of February 2010.....

I'm inclined to agree..

But, then again, a call in August to inquire about conversion to another card got me transferred to a credit analyst who CLD'd me from $63K to $20K on the spot. (Stupid me for not realizing what the phone transfer was about and just hanging up.)..

All interaction my spouse has had, include a couple months ago, has been positive and led to a CLI [CORRECTED LOL] or card conversion. YMMV.

As far as Bank of America reviewing accounts, it only makes sense for them to do so at this time. Many issuers will want to make any changes that they can before the new laws take effect and prevent them from doing so..

Even though Amex charge cards have "no preset spending limit", they do go by your previous spending history on the card, your credit history, and your income to determine your "exposure limit", or how much they'll let you go into debt with them before they will demand payment. If you've had the card for 24 years, you probably have nothing to worry about unless you're going to spend a lot more than you normally spend each billing cycle. If you're worried about a large purchase failing to go through, just call up Discover Card and ask them to do a test charge...
