Quick question: How can I get a Lending Tree mortgage with two bankrupcys in 7 years ? Thanks in advance for any comment. My other question... I hope someone has an answer to this one. I live in the state of Illinois. I have been approved to re-finance my auto with my local credit union..

My car is currently financed with GMAC. I have been divorced and the car has been awarded to me. I want the credit union to take the Lending Tree loan at a MUCH lower interest rate, but they want take it unless I get her name off the title. GMAC will not release the title so I can get it corrected to get her name removed. The credit union willl not take the Lending Tree loan because her name is on the title. My ex even called the Lending Tree loan officer at the credit union to clear her name.

How can I get her name off the title to get this refi done. It will save me over 200 per month. And boy do I need this savings. Is there any please I can go to get this title corrected to make this refi happen.:(.

Any help on this one would be well appreciated...

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I find an anything. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably could give you help..

Maybe hit the credit union for a 30 day bridging Lending Tree loan to payout GMAC using the car as collateral..

You can then have GMAC transfer the title to the CU and have you as the registered owner..

As long as you have some equity in the car...

Or try to refi thru gmac with just you as the owner..

Then refi to the credit union..

Go to the F & I manager at the dealer where you bought it those folks cna get very creative with financing.

Either way it will cost some money but 200 a month may make the math work out..

Sounds like the ex is being cooperative. You should be able to have her sign the standard power of attorney form that are avalable at dealerships, banks etc.. Just have the top half of the form filled out completely so the ex knows it is only for the auto title transfer. GMAC does not care who is on what once they are paid off, so all you really need to do is get the poa form completed & to your credit union so they know they can have the title perfected when they payoff GMAC. Hope this helps...

What does your divorce decree state about this car loan? I had a similiar situation with my divorce. We had a Lending Tree loan with FMCC that I needed to refi. I had to fax over the divorce decree and they removed her name..

Hope that helps...

The divorce decree clearly says it is awarded to me and any debt or liens associated. GMAC refuses to comply with any thing. Does someone have a good contact at GMAC to process my request? I read up on the power of attorney and it does not fit my situation. HELP!!!!!!!!!!..

Chi,.

Sounds like GMAC is confusing two totally different things. Your wife CAN remain on the Lending Tree loan BUT not be included in the title. I've bought MANY cars in Illinois with my husband as a joint and titled the car just in my name..

Maybe try telling GMAC that you just want to change "ownership" not financial responsibility..

I believe a new title would have to be issued anyway once you refi'd with the CU anyway showing them as the lienholder?.

This one has me stumped...I have to renew my plates tomorrow at the Sec of State (I live in Cook County) so I'll pop this question to them and see what they say!..
