First of all How can I find on the web the exchange rate applied from Discover Card? Many thanks for any comment. Another question I got... I lost my wallet at Wal-Mart last night. When I realized it was missing I called the store and spoke to someone who said a wallet was found and is with cash control. The person described my wallet so I know they have it. I don't know if my cash is still there or of all my cards are.

Besides the credit cards were two debit cards and my Driver's License...

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can help you..

Yes, I would cancel especially the debit cards. The CCs have (most have) protection but I rather be safe than sorry. what a PITA that is!..

If the cards are missing definitely call each company and have them re-issue your cards with new numbers. If your cards are still there I would watch your accounts for a couple of months just to be safe. The only cards I would definitely have reissued no matter what are the debit cards, fraud liability on them is not so great and a thief could do some real damage with your.

Actual.

I don't have the #'s on me. I was not looking forward to being without an debt card for a few days and paying (with Discover card) for a replacement card but I guess it's the best thing to do. I'll be cardless for 7-10 days (ugh)..

Get the cards reported as lost/stolen..

I don't think zero liability applies if you neglect to report cards missing... but I might be wrong. Besides, even if it does, it's just another headache to go and dispute any fraudulent charges...

I wouldnt cancel all of them if theyve been found. Id cancel them if there was unauthorized charges..

You'd have double the accounts on your report if you did..

Why would there be a charge for a replacement card? Especially in this situation?.

In most cases, if you let your card companies and bank know that your wallet was lost and found, but you opt NOT to close the cards and get new ones - stating they were all there, nothing was taken - they may have problems with covering or taking care of any unauthorized charges if they appear at a later date..

The company I work(ed) for, if your account information has been compromised, you know about it - you tell us about it - but opt to do nothing; you will be liable. So just a heads up there....

I am glad your wallet is safe and sound, hope everything is in there and nothing ever occurs of this situation (except great Karma to the person who turned it in, untouched)...

My CU charges $8.00 for a replacement card. I know it's small amount for peace of mind but until I get paid my funds are low..

I have never heard of that..

Not even for "my mag strip is dead.".

This might be a sign from the Banking Gods that it is now time to look for a new CU..

Aren't there supposed to be LESS fees at CUs?..

Protip:.

I photocopy each card I get, front and back and stick the sheets in a folder marked CARDS..

If/when you need to cancel the cards, just pull the folder and voila..

You should already have folders for your disputing, so just make one of these and be done with it..

Of course, people like BobWang would need a binder.. a very large binder, but for most.

Of us, this is cheap, simple insurance for moments like the OP is facing..

I agree with cancel the cards..

Whats better? 10 days without cards or 10+ days.

Chasing fraudulent charges on your card?..

+2.

I would cancel them to be on the safe side. Whoever returned your wallet could have copied the Discover credit card numbers and sec codes before doing so. Even if no charges were incurred yet, they might be in the future, in which case a future dispute of fraudulent charges could turn up the fact that you didn't report cards missing in time..

I would cancel debit cards as well and get them re-issued with new card numbers..

Since your D/L was in the wallet, it is conceivable someone could try to app for new credit with info on your D/L if your SSN can be compromised in some other way. I have heard but I am not sure how accurate this is that you can app for utilities and auto loans maybe without SSN, just with your name and DOB. I would put a security freeze as a potential victim of ID theft or even pay a few bucks to have it put in, just as a precaution..

A sec freeze will lock you out of new credit apps, but it is more effective against ID theft, as opposed to just fraudulent Discover credit card charges..

Maybe it's reaching but I'd rather err on the side of caution..

GL!.

I had the same thing happen to me. I cancelled all cards by looking up the customer service numbers on the Discover card companies' websites. For most of the cards, I had account access online. I shredded the old cards...

That's not an issue. the new accounts numbers should show his original account age. I personally would close them all. Just because they didn't take the cards doesn't mean they didn't write down the numbers/exp date/sec code so that they max them out via the web later today...

+1, I had a USB drive stolen last year... it contained all my credit reports and personal info..

I immediately reported all the cards stolen, and filed a police report (not over the $15 USB, but the sensitivity of the information on it). All the cards on my report stayed the same (no new accounts, no variance in age, etc...)..

Canceling is the safe choice. I wouldn't if the wallet had money and it wasn't taken. Money is much easier to steal, and if that wasn't done I personally wouldn't cancel..

If someone was going to us your card number, I don't think he would turn the wallet in either...

CANCEL or NOT.

...you can call each one and check for.

PENDING CHARGES.

(even attempted charges that were denied).

I found out why a phone charge was denied on.

TARGET VISA.

When there was more than 50 times the charged amount available.

They typed in the wrong expire.

MONTH or YEAR or BOTH.

Worked the second time just fine..

You would not believe the number of lost wallets and purses and daytimers (with money and ID and credit cards) we have found.

And had turned in by customers.

YES WE HAVE HONEST CUSTOMERS.
