First question I got is How can I change my credit card to VISA? Discover Card is incorrect.? Many thanks for any answer. Another quick question... I did the opt out last week (Jan. 12th) and I received letters from all three agencies dated for Jan. 13th saying I might be a victim of fraud. All letters contained information about keeping me safe from identity theft. Is this normal?.. |

Good question... I dunno what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could give you an answer..

I just looked at my EX report and it has a fraud statement listed also and it says it will be on my report for 90 days. The only thing I have done was opt out and disputed two things but I haven't received a response from the disputes yet...

It is your dispute that has triggered it and now that Fraud Alert will be passed to the other 2..
Did you dispute something as "Not mine"?.. |
|
My opt-out did not result in a possible fraud letter, just notation on the CR about opt-out..
Sometimes 'not mine' disputes result in a F/A. If you didn't place the F/A, you can write to the CRAs to rescind it. F/A can complicate new credit apps but it is not as restrictive as a freeze.. |

TREAT IT LIKE E-MAIL.
SPAM. "IF" they signed you up for a. BOGUS F/A. Dispute it. This post has been edited by. GEORGE. : 20 January 2010 - 03:39 PM.. |

I did a online dispute within the last year before I figured out I can get more accomplished via us mail...

I've never gotten a fraud alert from opting out although this may be a new policy designed to inconvenience the consumer...
