I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an useful answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can answer it..

Years ago when I was in high school and needed new clothes my parents would send me to the mall with one of their credit cards to buy clothes. Not only did I never run into problems using another person's credit card, but I would sometimes even draw bongs as my signature and get away with it..

Cool story, bro..

Pretty disgusted by the blogger....

I wonder if this was actually a "prank". If he got the three TVs, would he try to dispute the charge?.

Why pick on a single sales person, and make them excited about a hefty commission, only to take it away?.

As a retailer, there is nothing that ticks me off more than criminals and smartasses who hide behind laws and regulations to protect what they're trying to do. Caught a guy stealing $1200 worth of stuff last week, detained him, called the cops... he tried to brush past me saying "it's against the law for you to detain me"... and got a punch just below the ribs. Cops came, arrested him... he told them what I did and they told him "shut up, we don't care"...

Everyone on commission needs the commission..

Anyone who works in an electronics store is keenly aware of the fact that people will go to great lengths to steal, defraud and deceive their way into expensive electronics..

When someone walks in and says "how many $5000 televisions do you have... great, I'll take all of them" it raises some questions and while a customer should not have to justify the way they spend their money, anyone messing with the signature and writing "not authorized" should have been summarily ejected from the store. Even if it is their card, the store is likely being setup for an expensive charge back..

When I was in that business in my 20s, I had one customer who could not spell his name as it was printed on his Discover card (we asked so as to put it in the system and make it appear on the receipt). People that spend money too freely are often not spending their own money. Most legit customers making that kind of purchase would press for a deal, negotiate for free warranties and installation, etc..

The salesman may have needed the commission, but he did nothing to earn it...

Just saying, thieves have zero rights in my book..

I had one pull a knife on me once, then (stupidly) turn and try to stroll away. He got struck in the back of the knee with a shovel, then punched in the face several times. Cops called it self defense..

Caught one today, confiscated her purse and handbags and recovered $430 worth of various items. I then took her photo, faxed it along with her personal info to every store in our chain in a 20 mile radius. I also called her place of employment and left a voicemail alerting them that they have a thief working for them. As the topper, I made five phone calls to random people on her cell phone, explaining the situation..

Extreme measures maybe, but she assaulted one of my employees - so I took things up a notch. Finally, I called the cops, and she was taken out in cuffs...

I would advise you that you're not Chuck Norris and you're treading on thin ice when you do that. "Your book" means little and if a slight misstep is taken and you happen to break the law one day and you may find yourself out of a job and the thief may be in for a payday,..

I get what you're saying, but I'm not very worried. There are a variety of solutions for a variety of thieves. The only ones worth really messing with are the drunks and meth addicts. They're the most annoying, the most persistant (about stealing for drug/booze money, and coming back after being arrested/issued a trespassing notice), but incredibly stupid. You could post a billboard photo of them in their own filth, and they wouldn't do anything about it..

Regular dumb thieves get kicked out. If they're one of those "I may be stealing, but I have rights!!" jerks, I make sure they get arrested, and I make sure a bunch of people see it happen..

I had one shoplifter go from "I'M A LAWYER" to "I'm unemployed and can't afford food, please don't call the cops!" in under three minutes...

I share the sentiment but don't LPs have to think about.

Liability.

?.

If you lay your hands on someone or disparage them to their associates by dialing numbers on their cell phone and accusing them of being a thief before they have been legally charged, you risk a big fat suit..

Don't worth it. Let the police handle it...

I think the thing that all of you are not realizing is that in the US, we are all felons and anything is tortious..

Look up "3 felonies a day". If someone (and by "someone", I mean a Federal Prosecutor) wants to put you in jail, they can. If someone wants to sue you, they will..

I think the poster understands that his behavior is risky but every action carries a risk. I would personally love to be stopped for "shoplifting" - after the dust settled, I would change the name on the store to "Brawndo Mart"...

She'll be too busy stealing makeup and Prilosec from the competition in her methadone induced semi-coma within the next 24-48 hours to do anything about it..

Edit: Again, this was because she assaulted one of my employees. Assault on one of my employees = dire consequences..

How about creating a bunch of very borderline-pictures for your Capital One Image card and see which ones get through their filters?.

Picture one:.

BANKRUPTCY written in big letters..

Picture two:.

"I HAVE NO MONEY. REALLY, I DON'T." With a picture of a pair of pants with the pockets open..

Picture three... the freak-show series:.

- A picture of eye-ball surgery.

- Close-up of toe jam.

- A cockroach that looks like he's nibbling where they stamp the Capital One logo in the corner.

Four... subtle hint:.

A picture of a sock drawer.

Five, more blatant:.

In big letters, a big green up arrow they use on stock ticker sites, next to "This card's % APR is: "..
