I know I am obligated to pay all my past debts, but what can I do to bring up my FICO.My score is currently under 500,sad huh. I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably know..

Hey,.

You can only go up from here right? I started this Lending Tree credit repair thing about 10 months ago for exactly the same reasons. Between the ages of 18 and 21 I was bound and determined to ruin my credit... and I did a pretty good job of it..

When I came here some 10 months ago I remember my Transunion score was 484 if my memory serves me correctly. Equifax was 502 and Experian... well I don't know, but it probably wasn't far off. Today my scores are 627, 689, and 702, respectivley..

READ READ READ and when you've done that ask questions..

And get started yesterday... CHOD has begun...

Yeah, well my TU FAKO is still 460ish something... don't feel bad. I started in the upper 400/low 500s on all reports... at least I have made the 600 club in the past year since I found creditnet. You'll make it to 600 in no time. Read the first 3 posts, get ready for a fight.

Most of us have been in the same situation and are still struggling to emerge...

The old score is like a slow and easy diet. Start today and 1 year now your looking good. 3 or 4 years from now your looking great. 7 years from now you look buffed, a greek god!.

The main thing is to start that diet right now and never look back...

Chrisedd.

First, welcome to the board. Many people who have first come here have felt as you do. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. First, read the 1st 3 posts at the top of the board. Take notes as you do. Then reread them.

They are a fantastic source of basic knowledge on how to undertake your journey towards better credit. Next, utilize the search feature to locate posts that deal with the situations that you feel you need further clarification on. Once you have done those things you will be a much better position to attack your credit. The members of the creditnet family will be here to help and encourage you. Sometimes we will also be here just to be a shoulder to cry on when you get frustrated at your perceived lack of progress.

Good luck in your journey and I am available to help you and to answer questions if needed..

Welcome to the board. You shouldn't ever be ashamed to post, because many of us here were in the same position when we started. In the last 6 months I repaired my credit, and then started on my hubbys. I just finished his last week. It can be done!! His scores were in the mid 400's-low 500's. His TU Fakko is now a 687, and his EQ is a 756, in just a few short months.

You'll be amazed at how far you will come in the next year. Good luck to you!!..

Thanks for all the encouragement. I've never known a forum that has such a helpful community. This is now officially my favorite spot on the net. I guess I have to start reading the first three post, and do my home work..

Hey Chris - Dogman's the name - welcome!.

Did you file BK? We need to see what to work with..

If you have a BK 7 or 13, there are different strategies..

If it is just old bad reporting, that's a different route..

What's cooking?.

I never filed BK,but have thought about it. I have a lot of charge-offs and colections that have been on my report 1995-1997.I checked my score on tu and it was a measly 450. In a year, how much do you think I can improve it? Should I attempt to pay back those old charge-off & collections..

Thanks..

DO NOT PAY BACK the chargeoffs - those MUST BE REMOVED - by law - after 7 yrs..

It looks like we need to remind creditors that are 7 yrs old that they need to be challenged and removed.

Under Fair Credit Act..

Chris - look at the dates of the debts and see if they are 7 yrs old - then we challenge..

THEN, we challenge the ones less than 7 yrs :).
