Got a quick question: Has anyone ever heard of Tribute Discover Card? Thanks in advance for any answer or 2. Another question on my mind: At least several times a month EVEN if you think they are at a ZERO balance..

I had my MACY's Visa Discover card compromised by a MACY's employee....or that is what Macy's told me..

I paid the card balance off in October. I was shopping in Macy's on 12/20/09. As I purchased some items, I asked the clerk to please double check that my balance was at zero. (I have no clue why I even asked her, not something I generally ever do). Clerk informs me that indeed there is a balance. I looked at my hubby and was confused as I knew this card was at zero balance.

Called Macy's upon getting home later that day. Macy's looked into the issue and told me that "their opinion" was that a Macy's employee key coded (by mistake) someone elses charges to MY card. This store was in MASS and I live in CA. They kept insisting I was in the MASS store. I know have to PROVE by mailing MY drivers license to Macy's fraud dept in OHIO, my address and my.

Signature..........................omg, this was just getting me soooooooooooooo angry. CRAP. P.I.T.A. They already had ON FILE my address and my signature.................geez. IF I failed to mail my INFO I would be totally responsible for the charges on my card from the MASS store.

I did not make any MACY's payments (for a few months) as I knew the card was at zero BUT it really wasn't. I argued that I was NOT paying (with Discover card) any interest fees NOR they better not report a LATE payment to the credit bureau's as this was THEIR mistake. P I T A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Anyway, ff to today, Feb. 1, 2010 I finally have this settled. Almost 2 months of hassles.

Moral of the story....just take a some time and double check all your cc's a few times a month EVEN if you think you have paid them off. Mistakes like this was a huge PITA for me to straighten out...

Good question... I dunno what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could answer your Discover Card question..

GEORGE, this was a huge PITA.

My husband spoke to them/Macy's as well.....why did I have to show THEM who I WAS.....???????? I received a notice (AFTER I CALLED Macy's explaining the compromise to them) stating to send a copy of my drivers license to their offices in Ohio.

My husband told them I was not sending them a copy of my drivers license. They simply said.."then if you cannot prove to us WHO YOU ARE, you WILL be responsible for all the charges"...mind you I have been a long time, 10+ years customer in awesome standing with Macy's, always paying (with Discover card) my bill ON TIME.

Fraud Dept said to black out your license number, we just want to see your address and your signature.

Get this now, the letter stated from FRAUD DEPT that if I did not mail the (copy of the) license in 30 days, I would be responsible for the charges. I sent off a copy of my drivers license and called within 10 days of sending the copy......Macy's Fraud Dept personnel then state to me; that they will notified me in 60-90 days whether or not this has been resolved.......... I then said, "well your letter and your personnel who I spoke with in Fraud stated the copy had to be IN YOUR OFFICES WITHIN 30 days or I would be held responsible for these charges"...................yet they are not going to have any answers for 60-90 days...........JERKS all JERKS.

People, be careful, be very careful with that MACY's charge card. Mine has been CANCELLED...

IMHO, good riddance. Why would you want a card like that anyways? You are better off without it!..

If the charges hit a statement, follow the FTC's instructions on how to dispute fraudulent charges..

Until they hit a statement, you can keep calling and trying to get them to remove the charges...

George, even though I was dealing with Macy's FRAUD dept on this whole issue...I really feel that THEY did not look at it as Fraud as they stated to me that a Macy's employee key-coded these charges to your account. BUT sheesh, still the letter I received from MAcy's was upsetting as I had to prove to them WHO I WAS by mailing a copy of my drivers license and if I refused to do that in the 30 days they stated I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THOSE MA CHARGES despite living in CA...............so annoying. So disturbing...
