Trick or Treat?
Treat! It’s the third payday of the month! That’s one of the best treats of all!
In honor of Halloween, I just moved $2,250 from my checking account into our savings account. Here’s the breakdown.
-$500 to general savings (will be used to purchase furniture, etc.)
- $500 to car replacement fund (saving to replace our cars eventually, duh!)
- $500 to travel fund (travel savings, will be used for Florida)
- $750 to our house downpayment fund
Where did all this money come from? Well, you might think it came from my third paycheck, but if you’ve been reading, you know I already put some of that towards a Roth IRA contribution. Well, some of this money came from my paycheck today, but a lot of it was from wedding gifts, as well as some book sales this month.
I really like moving money around to my different sub-accounts but I hate that I have to wait a few days for the transfer.
Weekend plans:
Tonight: Hoping for a lazy night. Watch Glee on Hulu with Bird and then work on some web projects. Read before bed? I need a new book. Suggestions?
Tomorrow: Bird is running a 5k in the morning with friends. Then we are going shopping! Macy’s is having a sale where we can get 20% off everything that wasn’t purchased off our registry, but the good news is, we can add to our registry tomorrow, so basically we can get 20% off anything. And oh, did I mention that we have a $750 gift card from returning some wedding gifts. Tomorrow should be fun, especially for Bird. She really wants a Le Creuset dutch oven and I believe she’s going to get one. As for me, I really want the Wusthof steak knives and I also pray that we don’t end up getting some really girly, flowery bedding. Wish me luck!
Then we are hosting a Halloween party tommorow night and neither of us have costumes yet. So we’ll have to work on that and decorate and get groceries, etc!
Sunday: My Grandpa’s surprise 80th birthday party! We are going to have such a fun time. It will be so nice to see all the family we haven’t seen since the wedding. (Secretly, we want to talk to everyone about our wedding, sorry Grandpa!) Also, it’s the Vikings v. Packers football game in Green Bay, so you can be sure we are all going to be watching that after the party. Go Vikes!
All in all, a great weekend ahead. I’m so looking forward to it. Too bad it’s only 10:30 on Friday morning!

We got a get-20%-off-the-registry coupon from Macy’s, but I think I might just use the usual 20% off in the paper and our our gift cards for Christmas gifts. Is that wrong?
Sounds like a very busy weekend!
Nope, I don’t think that’s wrong! I want to regift a few things we don’t have receipts for. Is that wrong?
Yes, busy but fun weekend.
Thanks for stopping by! I’ve subscribed to your blog and am looking forward to reading more!
I’ve also subscribed to yours — thanks! =)
As long as it hasn’t been used, I’m good for regifting once in a while!
