My question is Get your free Discover Card! (oxymoron)? Thanks for any comment. 2nd question I got is.. I've got all 3 bureaus frozen and did a dispute on Equifax (CSC) to get rid of the "account in dispute" notations so I can finish a refi. I got a letter in the mail today from CSC saying something to the effect of , "Due to the security freeze placed on your account, we cannot release the results of your investigation without further proof of your identity.".

They want me to either call them with my PIN or write them a letter proving I'm me (DL, Utility bill, etc)..

Is this new?.

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can help you..

I will call them when I get home and have access to my pin...Just annoyed as this seems like just hurdle to jump through for no good reason. Me checking my report is a soft....softs are not subject to the freeze...

I get this every couple of months. Throw it away, they have to send the updated results by law. I get mine a week after that worthless letter..

I put the freeze in place to keep me from being tempted to open new accounts. The $10 unlock fee is a great deterrent..

SOME THINK HARDS ARE BETTER THAN SLICED BREAD.

(even ones that are pulled for things that are not a Discover card or loan)..

In the last year I've opened an AMEX Green, Discover More, 2 CU cards (NFCU, 66FCU), 1 USAA card, 2 GEMB accounts, bought 3 new vehicles and refinanced 2 houses. I think I'm good for awhile.

Its time to lock things up and let them age...
