Got a question... Does CANOBIE LAKE PARK except VISA or Discover Card? Many thanks for any answer or 2. Another question... We've only had it since September and we've always paid it in full every month. We've never even gotten close to the limit on it but I tried to use it today and it was declined so I called them. They said we have too many revolving credit lines open so they closed it. |

Yep, although you might want to make sure and wait for another commenter to confirm it as I am on the fence. Better yet, why don't you email the Discover Card guys because they can answer you better...

Baby Steps.... Someday that Hooters card can blossom into a $50K prime card if treated with care..... |
To each their own, they have been nothing but great to me when I was rebuilding. Still a high limit card in my portfolio..
People are way to quick to judge lately..... |
So I just pulled dh's TU report and all it lists is our mortgage, the new vehicle loan and the Cap One card. All are in good standing, paid as agreed, $0 Late.
IDK what their problem is... |
Must be a random bogus cancellation reason generator they use. Too many =2, so we will take 1 away.
What about those of us that have 25+ revolving lines?.. |
I know they are closing and denying if you have a new mortgage, Might be your new Car loan that done it...

Hooters is a terrible crap card but some of us have taken it on because it was an easy win with a reasonable credit line and in my case, no annual fee..
So get this... some people have been graced with their "magazine" subscription and some have not. I called to ask them not to send it to me and the obliged; they send it to my husband (he has his own card) but it hits the trash before he sees it. It has arrived a few months but not on most months. WTH kind of subscription is that? Obviously not a real one, just a magazine several months in a row then then none for almost a year, then another. You get the picture.. Well, today, they send him a notice, and I thought it was a CLD or APR-jack or something, but it was a magazine "subscription renewal notice"! On top of intermittently sending magazines (which are glossy ads for their restaurant, of course), they sent what looks like a regular magazine subscription renewal notice, as in, "Look how time flies, your magazine subscription is almost over," and there are options: $14 for 6 months (for losers who want to see some more cheesecake but only have a few bucks, LOL), and 12 months for whatever and 18 months for $30 !. As if Merrick Bank/Hooters does not make enough money shafting their "customers" with interest rate hikes, annual feels, etc. (sheesh).. |
Personally I found the magazine to be the best part of having the card. I had it for about 16 months or so and NEVER used once. It was closed (by them), but reports as "closed by consumer".
Thanks for the free year of magazine Hooters card... |

Did they try to get you to pay for it?.
I thought that was pretty sneaky. Making it look like it had been a paid sx and it was time to renew.. I think they were thinking disorganized people would not remember that it had been free and would just go ahead and pay for it along with all other magazine subscriptions they renew. I guess.... Any way to squeeze another buck or 30 out of another person.. *I just figured out they may be sore losers because my husband opted out (closed all charging privileges to his card) so that he could pay the balance down and off at 18% instead of the 24% they were going to rate-jack him to otherwise. So they're not getting as much as they would have liked out of him (transaction fees, higher APR, an annual fee). I guess they thought they could see what kind of moron he is.. I did not opt out of mine but I paid the balance off and now use it for a very large purchase every month (our rent) and pay it by the due date. So they don't get much out of me, either. We both hate Merrick bank with a passion (we have a history with regular Merrick cards too. They're paid off but boy, did we pay them a lot of interest over a couple of years.). I think they sent me a renewal postcard. I never paid, but magazines kept coming as long as I had the card...
Sadly, I miss my Hooters card.
I think I got one magazine in the 1.5 years I had the card... |
It's sucks but seems the norm these days....
I'm kinda peeved at the 3 dollar a month fee, it turns 24 months old in June so they will get the improve me or close it speech at that point. But it has done what I needed it to do in that time frame. C'est la vi.. Some of the best advice I came away from this board is diversity. I just thought about it, We have opened many new accounts when we opened the Hooters card. I am hoping they do not close my card down. I have been using it, and just PIf'ed. I have been checking my reports, to see if they pull a soft!..
Does any one know what kind of credit do you need for the hooters card? I know it has been said that their easy, but how easy? Is it worth the INQ?..
Eh, they're not so bad. My Hooters have grown to a $2500 CL which is good for paying (with Discover card) utilities and for use at liquor stores and Walmart. Plus it's fun to see the reactions when a suburban mom pays with a Hooter's card - have gotten some fun double takes...
I first used my Hooters card at sams, The lady asked me if it was real!..
I had mine canceled without warning. I checked my account online and saw the available credit was $0. I HAD a $1750 CL with $0 balance. Two weeks later I got a letter stating the reason for cancellation was "too many new accounts." I had three new cards all at the same time (Cap 1 cash back $1500, HSBC Discover $2000 and the Hooters at $1750.).
And I never got the magazine either!!.. |

Same thing happened to me when I got the Jared card. Hoooters closed immediately because of the new tradeline. They must've gotten nervous However, I'll take Jareds $2000 CL over Hoooters measly CL. That being said, it did serve a purpose as a rebuilder and for that I'm grateful... |
I hear ya! They gave me my biggest CL a few years back at $3,250 (though I've never gotten an increase). But, no annual fee..
My kids get a big kick out of it!.. |

Got the mail today and laughed at the close request: You Have Opened an excessive number of accounts recently....
I'll take the close on this though the loss of age is gonna hurt... FWIW - just got a Juniper 5k line this morning.... THey were a good starter card..... |
