First question I got is Does anyone have Ameriquest platinum Discover Card? What is your experience with it? Thanks in advance for any comment. Another question... I am a mom that has 3 prepaid cell phone accounts for my 3 oldest children. I used a $10 top up card to add more money to my daughter's phone, a couple of days later I was unable to call her to find out where she was after school.

I called Virgin Mobile and asked them what was wrong with my account. I was told my account was suspended because there computer said my debit card was fraudlent. I've been using this card for months; it wasn't lost or stolen.

They told me the only way to clear up the suspended account is to fax a copy of my debit card front & back; also a copy of my debit card statement and driver's license..

I don't think this is ethical. What do I do?? Spoke with 2 managers and they wont refund my money without the above items..

Help..

Yup, although you might want to make sure and wait for someone else to confirm it as I am not confident. Better yet, why don't you call the Discover Card guys because they can give you help better...

HAVE YOUR BANK SEND A LETTER TO Virgin Mobile THAT THE DEBIT CARD IS YOURS.

AND THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS TELLING YOU THAT IT IS fraudlent.

...and a duplicate copy to you for your records.

Why have they not sent the CREDIT REFUND back to your account since the card was fraudlent.

They can't (LEGALLY) keep it..

So...as a former fraud victem you resent Virgin for trying to prvent it? So you are willing to eat th loss the next time somebody steals your identity and the vendor does not take REASONABLE precautions to protect your account?..

A little overboard.

The bank did not bounce the charge back.

Virgin Mobile is overstepping it's authority in this case calling the debit card fraudlent..

Dear Virgin Mobile.

Our mutual customer MsMelody6 used her debit card to purchase additional minutes on her cell phone.

You overstepped your authority by calling her debit card fraudlent.

At the same time you have not done a credit refund for the charge.

You can not legally get away with keeping the money.

We will assume this is just an oversight on your part and you will be sending a credit refund with-in 5 business days.

...or we can accept a paper check from you for the $10.00 at the above address.

This is a lot of stress you are giving a customer for only $10.00.

SIGNED [INSERT BANK NAME]..

I would just dispute the charges with your bank. If they've frozen your accounts and claim they're fraudulent, let them eat them. Then get another carrier...

I was not sure they would be able to do a CHARGE-BACK since Virgin Mobile has told the bank that the card is fraudulent.

Even though the bank and the customer disagrees..

I'd send them a copy of my DL, but that's it..

Absolutely would not send them a copy of the back of my card with the security code on the back, nor would I send them a copy of my bank statement. It's none of their business what my monthly expenses are - it's a pre-paid cell phone, fercrissakes...

Paypal did this to me a few years ago and locked up over $1,200...and then, once I faxed them my info, they refused to accept it because the address on my DL wasn't in the USPS database. It was a huge hassle and it was almost a year before I got my money back.

As to how to fix this....I would dispute the charge with my bank and let the banks fraud department sort this out with Virgin. You made a valid purchase and virgin is refusing service..

You'll prove to them it really was your card when your bank yanks your money back from them. I agree with the others, they charged your card and didn't provide the service you paid for, so it's a very cut and dried case for a chargeback. They aren't allowed to make you jump through hoops to "prove" it was your card. Either a card is fraud or it is not, and it's up to the banks to investigate that..

The only bank you are going to find that will sign something like this, is run by Mr Rourke and located on Fantasy Island. Don't waste your time with something like this OP. All your bank is going to tell you is to dispute the charges...
