First question I have is Does anybody-know where I can get Discover Card Prepaid De-bet card? Thanks for any comment. Second question.. I remember you had a problem in the past and sent flowers along with your request and you achieved satisfaction. I just did something along that line but not as expensive..

GEMB was reporting on my reports a closed account that they listed as charged off. I remember running into financial difficulties in my accounts and my mother paid many of them off and did it without anything in writing (this was pre CB). I had a Walmart store card that went 120 days late my mother paid it over the phone for me in three payments. They were to my memory report it paid but of course with nothing in writing I can't prove this and my mother changed banks and no longer has old statements..

So I tried to dispute it to get the reporting changed from a current status of 120 days past due to something better. I would have accepted a derogatorily paid as long as it didn't keep reporting the current status as 120 days past due but the CRA's kept saying it's right. I decided to try another track and contact the OC. Before I wrote the letter I went to Starbucks and bought a gift card with $5.00 on it. I then wrote the following letter.

".

GE MONEY BANK.

Attn: Margaret Keane.

1600 Summer Street Fifth Floor.

Stamford, CT USA 06905.

Ms. Keane.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I can understand that you are very busy and I tend to get long winded so I€™d appreciate if you would buy something at Starbucks with the enclosed card and enjoy it while you read about my situation..

In 2006 I started a home business working on computers and also working as a DJ for a bar. My computer business was profitable until the middle of 2006 when I had three clients stop using my services and the bar I was working at canceled the karaoke night I was running. The loss of this income made it impossible for me to pay all my bills and I became delinquent to my creditors. I ended up not being able to pay my minimum payments for many of my accounts. I had considered filing for bankruptcy but my mother interceded on my behalf and worked out arrangements with GE Money Bank regarding my Wal-Mart store card and a few of the other creditors. She and I believed that after paying (with Discover card) the settled amount the accounts would reflect the account was paid..

Last week I obtained copies of my credit reports to help me in preparing to look for a house with my girlfriend. It was then that I noticed the entry on Equifax for account <removed for cb>. You are reporting this account as a Charge Off with current status of 120 days past due. The entry is showing a balance of 0 with 0 past due and the date of last payment of 2/2008. She does not have the records of these payments any longer and because the agreement to show paid as we agreed were done verbally she does not have anything in writing. I would appreciate it if you would look into the reporting of this account including the 120 day late entry that is showing for April 2009".

Today I get a leter in the mail in an envelope from GE. I opened it and it said some things and then "Please accept this letter as a written confirmation that a request gas been sent to the credit reporting agenices, Equifax, Experian, Trans Union and Innovis, to update the present status and remove all derogatory history in your credit bureau file regarding you GEMB/Walmart Discover card account..

The request statted that the present status of your account as of the date of this letter is.

Paid/Closed/Zero Balance,Current.

".

Oh and this is how Credit Check Total is reporting them now.

Versus how they were.

Did you write down the gift card number so you can check the balance and see if someone actually used it?..

I had a 30 day late with GEMB and they removed it after I wrote and told them that it was the only derog on my report. I told them I was late and it was my fault and that I was sorry. They're pretty cool. Sending them a gift is probably not a good idea because if the employee accepts it, they are likely violating company policies on conflicts of interest...

That was sooo nice, congrats! One more proof that companies can choose to bend the rules a bit and that goodwill is not an illegal thing like some claim or some fantasy or urban legend as some silly uneducated CRS claim over the phone...

I sent a letter to Citi as well because it was the same situation I haven't heard anything back yet either positive or negative..

I did not because I would need the hidden code that you can only get by scratching off the card. In the little gift envelope I wrote a thank you note. It looks like this.

I had sent to to one of the executives. They generally have more leway when it comes to gifts. I know in my prior job I could accept a "token gift" which was something from one of our vendors worth $5.00 or less. I would not be surprised though if the card made it's way to a regular employee through a reward system..

Hey if it wasn't for some of the ideas here I would never try off the wall things...
