First off, Do you need to register before you use them? it's debit Discover Card? Looking forward for any response. Second question.. We've had this Discover card for 8 months. At the 6 month point, I called and got the automated option to check on a CLI. Our limit is $3500, we've used the card alot because we moved and needed new appliances. I asked for a $1000 CLI, it was denied.

I've read on here that Discover wants you to use the card, but are they denying CLIs based on Util?.

How soon can we check again, or do we have to wait until the 1 year point? Thanks...

They gave me a CLD based only on utilization..

If you use your Discover, they would prefer that you do not use it, and if your do not use it, they would prefer that you do use it. Therefor it follows that the way to get a CLI would probably be to not use the card and that using the card probably disqualifies you from a CLI. Or something like that...

So there's no pleasing Discover I guess. Can we try again, or is it only every 6 months? We've made large payments but have used it regularly, so the utilization stays high...

Some part of me keeps saying "6 months" with Discover. I don't know if I've read it here, or heard it from a rep, but I'm almost certain that I've heard it a few times. That being the case try for CLI's every 6 months..

Discover never grants requests for me. I started at 1,000 back in 05' and it's grown to 2250..all on it's own..

In fact, the last CLI I had was an auto $250 that was granted when I used the card after it had been dormant for 12 months. I know this because I checked online, saw 2000/2000 avail credit. I then proceeded to order a pizza. After eating said pizza I logged into discover again and saw my available credit at something like 2232/2250.

Who knows with Discover.

(edit: I will add with Discover that back when I screwed up with credit, when citi and best buy shut down my cards, Discover never shut me down..

I was over the limit across the board, 60 late, and when I finally realized that I actually have to pay Discover card bills Citi had closed my account, Best Buy had closed my account, but Discover hadn't. I eventually paid back everything I owed to the original creditors and in time they all forgave me and gave me new cards.).

I got an auto CLI on my discover after 6 months of having the account. It is my primary card and I have charged up to 50% of the balance, so maybe they do like seeing usage...
