First question I got is Contact details of Discover Card and Visa? Thanks for any answer. Second question.. My husband received this letter and I would like advice on how to proceed...I have not disputed this yet....

Directv has placed your account with Allied Interstate and has given us the authority to settle your account for less that the total Amount Due. This letter confirms our agreement to accept one single payment for 60% of the Amount Due as final settlement on the Amount Due listed above. However, settling your account rather than paying (with Discover card) it in full will not entitle you to service reactivation..

On behalf of Directv, we report debts to one or more credit-reporting agencies on or after forty-five (45) days from the date of this letter. However, if the above-referenced Amount Due is paid within forty-five (45) days from the date of this letter, we will not report this debt..

Send your check or money order, payable to our client, or contact our office at the telephone number listed above to initiate a payment via the telephone..

I know I need to dv them (by the way I need a sample of a letter to send them, where would I find that?) is there anything I can do to ask them not to call our phones? Any other advice would be very much appreciated, thanks!..

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can help you..

So the letter has no information about your right to dispute the debt within 30 days?..

Is there any disclosure on the front that says something to the effect of, "SEE BACK FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION?"..

Most consumer attorneys will give you a free consultation. Im no attorney (obvious) but that letter sounds like it might be a prime example of overshadowing a consumers right to dispute within 30 days. I would find a consumer attorney and ask him to take a look at it..

You can ask the CA to stop calling you, but it is best done in writing. A LC&D included in your DV should do just fine. (Sample letters forum).

If the letter is as you describe it, my vote is to show it to an attorney...

Thanks, we will definitely take that under advisement, ugg I have been reading up on this agency and it seems as though they don't have the best reputation and at times can be unethical, so an attorney may be the best way to go (I just hate doing that over a 300 dollar debt lol)..
