First question I have is Capital One- Discover Card.. threatening to me to court for $500? Hoping for any response. Another question I got... My TU report went from 7 CAs down to 3 CAs yet my score didnt change a point..

My question is, is there a lag time before scores are updated.

Or.

Is FICO setup more like 1 CA is enough to take the hit for having CAs. 6 more dont matter, score-wise..

I realize upon manual review, 3 CAs is better than 7, but I wonder if FICO cares..

Thoughts anyone?..

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I got an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can help you..

That doesn't sound good. Mine are all clumped under "Derogatory Accounts." Is that what you mean?.

Jeez, no wonder it's so hard to get those scores up...

MyCreditKeeper has a credit score estimator that allows you to see the difference adding and removing things from your personal CR. When I take one CA off, my score barely moves. When I take off 2, same thing. When I take off all 3...85 point jump in score..

So, yes. I believe until you get a clean report, at least clean from CA accounts, your score won't move much...

The total derogs were:.

4 open CA accounts. RIP.

3 closed CA accounts..

The 4 open Accts fell off, leaving 3 closed, PAID collections to work on..

Luckily, 1 of the remaining closed CAs is dropping mid 2010..

Just leaving 2 from the same CA to battle for a clean Collections category...

So apparently, ANY collection is enough to trigger the score hit..

Open or closed. The difference, I imagine is as the Closed accts.

Age, they weigh less, while the open accounts dont change age.

Away weight..

Thats a guess, but it seems to fit what I'm seeing...

First, make sure you are looking at your mailed-in reports, not what is seen online, but the mailed in ones from each CRA..

Study each "collection" very carefully - do any of them have status of "open"with a past-due? if so that is incorrect reporting, unless you personally agreed to open this account with them and make it past-due yourself by not making timely payments to an open account..

Derogatories can contain both collections and any accounts with past-due in them...

There are some exceptions to this apparently. For instance, I was garnished by.

A Student Loan I defaulted on and DURING the garnishment period, they still.

Reported the loan as +120 date, while they are collecting payments and.

From what I've read in the SL forum, it's perfectly legal.. *sigh*..

Well this is certainly discouraging. Unless and until I get ALL the derogs off I'm not going to see a jump. Then I'm still stuck with that tax lien. What a downer.........

I have my TU (the only one I've received in the mail so far) in front of me. There are 8 derog accounts and 6 are reporting as "Open" with Past Due on each reporting as >$xxx<...

Don't be discouraged! I started with 11 on one report and it's down to 5 now. Well, really 3 as EQ is double-posting 2 CAs. My score has improved drastically with the combination of adding 2 new TLs and removing Public Records and Closed & Opened CAs..

I just started 2 months ago. You'll get there. Just keep busting away at it...

How long did it take you to see the score jump, or was it gradual?..

Biggest score jump was when I added my Macy's card. I had already had a bunch of deletions, and that barely got me over the 600 mark. The Macy's card pushed me to @ 630-650. I haven't activated my HSBC card yet, but the score estimator says I should only expect another 10 points or so for that...

Are you pulling your FICOs or are these CCT score changes? 'Cuz other than a 14 point EXP jump when I got an old revolving account deleted, I haven't seen my CCT scores change...

Based on your sig, I'm guessing you won't see any noticeable score improvement until your reports are clear. Your scores are better than mine and I have less baddies. I'm assuming you have more good TLs than I do with a longer history...
